Conclave Novena Prayer (Italian) Novena Per il Sacro Collegio dei Cardinali Riuniti per il Conclave Per eleggere il Romano Pontefice Mi inginocchio davanti a te, o Vergine Madre di Dio, Nostra Signora di Guadalupe, compassionevole Madre di tutti coloro che Ti amano, che gridano a Te, che Ti cercano e che confidano in Te. Prego per la Chiesa in un tempo di grande prova e pericolo per essa. Come sei venuta in soccorso della Chiesa sul Tepeyac nel 1531, ti preghiamo, intercedi per il Sacro Collegio dei Cardinali riunito a Roma per eleggere il Successore di San Pietro, Vicario di Cristo, Pastore della Chiesa Universale. In questo tempo tumultuoso per la Chiesa e per il mondo, supplica il Tuo Divin Figlio che i Cardinali di Santa Romana Chiesa, Suo Corpo Mistico, ubbidiscano umilmente ai suggerimenti dello Spirito Santo. Attraverso la Tua intercessione, possano scegliere l’uomo più degno di essere il Vicario di Cristo sulla terra. Suplico por la Iglesia en un momento de gran prueba y peligro para ella. Así como acudiste al rescate de la Iglesia en el Tepeyac en 1531, intercede por el Sagrado Colegio Cardenalicio reunido en Roma para elegir al Sucesor de San Pedro, Vicario de Cristo, Pastor de la Iglesia Universal. En este momento tumultuoso para la Iglesia y para el mundo, ruega a tu Divino Hijo que los Cardenales de la Santa Iglesia Romana, Su Cuerpo Místico, obedezcan humildemente a los impulsos del Espíritu Santo. On December 14th, Fr. Edward Nemeth and Cardinal Burke offered a very special Rorate Caeli Solemn Mass. This mass is an ancient Marian tradition during the season of Advent. The Mass is named for the Entrance Antiphon, or “Introit,” which begins “Rorate, caeli desuper” or “Drop down, O heavens, and let the clouds rain down the Just One.” This passage from Isaiah 45:8 is used in the liturgies of the Saturdays of Advent and the Fourth Sunday of Advent in the Ancient Use of the Mass. Rorate Masses begin at 6:00 am before the sunrise. This symbolic language shapes the distinctive ceremony of the Rorate Caeli Mass, held just before dawn with no light except from candles on the altar. Light is a way for us to understand that without Christ the soul is in darkness and is not able to find fulfillment. The Rorate Mass takes this interplay, or even better the drama, of light and dark and sets it liturgically for us. The timing of the Mass aims to coordinate the elevation of the Host with the moment of sunrise. The light from sunrise comes into the dark church as the rising of the Son of God in the hands of the priest is taking place. The dawning of a new day’s light at the apex of the Mass beautifully symbolizes the coming of Christ, the Light of the world, at His Nativity. Because during the Annunciation, Mary “believed what was spoken to her by the Lord would be fulfilled” (Luke 1:45), we too take great hope in being fulfilled by Christ the true light, Who is born of the Virgin Mary, our mother.

We have been blessed to have 150,000 people from around the world praying daily for nine months to Our Lady. This is truly momentous and miraculous. I want to share that as these historic nine months come to a close and we prepare to make our solemn consecration to Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12, we will also make a special novena within a novena. For the final nine days, beginning December 3, we will make a powerful final novena in order to persevere and obtain the graces of our consecration. I encourage you to join me in this last, very important, prayer. I especially encourage anyone who has not joined us thus far, or who has not prayed for the whole nine months, as a way to take part in this momentous consecration and obtain the special graces that will pour forth from our heavenly mother, Our Lady of Guadalupe. Je viens vous supplier pour l’Église au moment où elle traverse une période de grandes épreuves et de grands dangers. De même que vous êtes venue au secours de l’Église à Tépotzátlan en 1531, daignez intercéder pour le Sacré Collège des cardinaux réuni à Rome pour élire le successeur de saint Pierre, Vicaire du Christ et Pasteur de l’Église universelle. En cette période de tumulte pour l’Église et pour le monde, plaidez auprès de votre Divin Fils afin que les cardinaux de la Sainte Église romaine, son Corps mystique, obéissent humblement aux inspirations du Saint-Esprit. Advent is upon us. Cardinal Burke reflects that “only when we’ve lived through a period like Advent can we really celebrate Christmas with joy.” Advent must never be thought of as the beginning of the Christmas season. Rather, as Lent is to Easter, Advent is to Christmas—a time of preparing our souls for the incarnation of the Word of God for our salvation. When we fully enter into Advent as a time of prayer, we see our lives more clearly as lived in Christ. #advent
