Well that was a very warm night after intense thunderstorms in the Northwest and we have more thunderstorms today with some lightning in the Southwest already this morning. Showers continuing to develop and move North, up to 27c again today but varying a lot. Showery and cooler weather arrives for Saturday. The animation shows the lightning detected since yesterday afternoon.

While we have fresher air to start the week the weather models show the air mass over much of Western Europe will go from below average to back above average pretty quickly. Heat is likely to start building back in by the weekend and into early next week. How hot it will get is unclear yet but we could see mid to high twenties in Ireland again. Spain and Portugal over 40c is possible in parts again this week.
