A recent highlight of my career was impeaching Antifa-aligned activist Deana Sherif (using footage from her own livestream!) in a case where she accused my client of assault. “Impeaching” means challenging a witness’s credibility during a trial. I asked Deana whether she tried grabbing my client’s privates at any point in the altercation. She denied it, calling both me and the question “disgusting.” Then I played this video. My purpose was to show the Court that Deana is an unreliable narrator whose testimony should not be trusted. Ultimately, the judge found significant inconsistencies in Deana’s version of events and accepted much of my client’s account instead, as it aligned with the objective evidence. The Court did not reference this specific clip in its decision in R v Comtois but it was an exhibit at trial. WATCH: Footage from an incident involving Kate Tracey, the Canadian living in America who allegedly accosted then assaulted teenagers at Point Pleasant Beach over Independence Day weekend. According to a sworn statement, the altercation was triggered by Tracey’s reaction to the teenagers’ pro-Trump, pro-ICE clothing. Tracey was charged with simple assault, endangering the welfare of a child, harassment and obstruction. The Department of Homeland Security says Tracey overstayed her visa, which expired in 2024. Tracey is currently being held in an ICE detention centre. In Canada, some adults have come to view violence or intimidation against young people as morally justified when the targets are perceived as “fascist.” Publicly-funded “watchdog” organizations like the Canadian Anti-Hate Network (Canada’s SPLC offshoot) contribute to legitimizing that mindset by portraying certain ideological opponents as beyond the bounds of acceptable discourse. Violence by Antifa-aligned individuals frequently goes unaddressed, even when directed at minors. Of the people featured in the montage below, only one was arrested for conduct involving minors— and that case was ultimately resolved with a peace bond. Legacy media strenuously avoids reporting on unlawful Antifa tactics overall. Increasingly, Canada is exporting its own brand of hatred and polarization abroad. #ProtestMania

Although Jewish, my videographer has never discussed or debated politics with Perks, nor with any other protesters. That context suggests “Zionist” is being used here as a slur rather than according to its actual meaning, intended to vilify targets by invoking antisemitic stereotypes and negative associations.
