“Why should I dig in my self-propelled howitzer? Its survivability comes from its mobility!” Not always. In this case, a Ukrainian 2S3 152mm SPG survives two direct hits from multiple Russian PGMs (likely 152mm laser-guided Krasnopol), thanks to both overhead cover and its dug-in position. If you’re not considering digging at every opportunity, you’re not considering the threats of the modern battlefield.
