Shri Vivek Chaturvedi, Chairman, CBIC , in the presence of Shri Yogendra Garg, Member (Customs), CBIC and other senior officers inaugurated, the National Assessment Centre (NAC) Portal, developed by Mumbai Customs Zone-I, at New Custom House, Mumbai on 03.09.2026. 👉The launch marks another significant step towards strengthening Faceless Assessment and promoting greater uniformity, consistency and transparency in Customs assessment. 👉Envisaged as a single, integrated knowledge platform for Faceless Assessment, the Portal brings together NAC decisions, legal precedents, CAAR rulings, audit observations, advisories and other assessment-related information on a common platform. Based on profiling, Customs IGI Air Intelligence Unit(AIU) officers kept an Indian female passenger under surveillance arriving from Bangkok to Delhi on 08.11.2025 👉During monitoring, the passenger was seen entering the washroom, where she changed from a black jacket to a grey jacket bearing the National Emblem and “National Investigation Agency (NIA)” inscription, apparently to impersonate a government officer and evade Customs checks. 👉The passenger was intercepted after crossing the Green Channel. On X-ray screening, suspicious images were observed in her baggage. When questioned, she falsely claimed to be an NIA officer and produced an identity card appearing to be fake. 👉On detailed examination, 20 vacuum-sealed packets of Hydroponic Weed (11.350 kg total) were recovered from bags bearing the NIA emblem. 👉A team from NIA India was also called to verify credentials and assist in the investigation which confirmed that she is not officer/staff of NIA. 👉The case is under investigation and legal action are being taken as per law.

DRI seizes 31.4 kg of gold at Delhi Air Cargo of value Rs 20.5 Cr from consignment of 24 "lens center instruments".Gold was ingeniously concealed within the instruments.The premises used for extraction/melting was located & three members of smuggling syndicate have been arrested.
