Yet today, Japanese right-wing forces are still attempting to whitewash the history of aggression, steadily seeking to break free from the constraints of its pacifist Constitution, and repeatedly testing the limits through military buildup and accelerating remilitarization. The ink on the Instrument of Surrender has never faded, nor has history's warning ceased to resonate.
