In early May, Ursula von der Leyen visited Lebanon to announce $1 billion in aid to Lebanon in an EU-Lebanon migration control deal. Now the Lebanese authorities have started forcibly deporting Syrian refugees in Lebanon back to Syria, where they face risks of detention, torture, and death.
