If you eat vegetables and grains and notice bloating, stomach pain, and constipation, that is because your stomach “can’t” break down and absorb the nutrients. The human stomach has a highly acidic pH between 1.5 and 3, making breaking down meat and other animal products such as dairy and eggs extremely easy. Proteases (enzymes that break down proteins) like pepsin and lipases (enzymes that break down fats) like gastric lipase are activated in our stomachs to break down the proteins and fats we eat. This is why we don’t see meat in our poop. This isn’t the case when we eat vegetables 🥗 The amylase enzyme is located in our mouths, breaking down simple sugars we eat, like starch, but not in our stomachs. Amylases are inhibited in our stomachs. Amylase can’t break down cellulose (carbohydrate that surrounds the outside of vegetables, covering the leaves, stalks, and florets), the primary complex carbohydrate in vegetables, meaning vegetables go straight to our colon without being broken down/digested. This prevents us from breaking down and absorbing the nutrients inside (behind the cellulose walls) vegetables, and that is why vegetables wind up in our poop 💩. This is just one of the many reasons why people who eat a primarily meat and animal-based diet feel relief from IBS, constipation, and chronic inflammation and don’t require vitamin supplementation to stay healthy.

If you are new to carnivore and have been experiencing gout, Gerd, acid reflux, just know it’s not from carnivore, it is your body detoxing oxalates and uric acid! This post is for anyone struggling to lose weight on a carnivore diet. Please stop what you are doing, get a food scale, and pay attention because this will solve 90% of your problems. For the remaining 10% who don’t lose weight following this post, you have an internal issue blocking your ability to process fats, proteins, or both. You may even be suffering from mold or parasites. Both can easily prevent you from losing weight. Trust me; I experienced it myself.
