New Short Film: “The Joshniks” Very frequently, the team at receives a startlingly similar message. It usually reads something like this: “I’ve been learning with Rabbi Gordon every morning for months. I feel like I know him. I just looked him up, and I’m in shock—I had no idea he passed away years ago.” This week marks the 10th yahrtzeit of Rabbi Yehoshua B. (“Josh”) Gordon. Yet, the confusion is understandable. For hundreds of thousands of students worldwide who log on to and a cluster of apps to study Chumash, Tanya, and Rambam, he is still very much alive. A new documentary released this week by The Joshniks, explores the unique story of the continued impact and legacy of Rabbi Gordon. While Rabbi Gordon's classroom is global, the film focuses intimately on a community of learners in Port Washington, New York. It captures the story of people who never met him, yet live and learn with him every day, proving that his teaching—witty, clear, and personal—is as eternal as the Torah he teaches. ✨ I'm a Jew and I'm Proud! Tens of thousands of Jews gather in Crown Heights as a massive call for Jewish unity and pride and in solidarity with their brothers and sisters in the Holy Land. The great parade is part of the special celebration in honor of Lag BaOmer, a festive day on the Jewish calendar, celebrating the anniversary of the passing of the great sage and mystic Rabbi Shimon bar Yochai, author of the Zohar. Beginning in the 1950s, the seventh Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, encouraged Jewish children to join together in grand Lag BaOmer parades as a show of Jewish unity and pride. Held in front of the Lubavitch World Headquarters in Brooklyn, New York, the parades attracted—and still attract—thousands of children from all walks of life. In 1980 the Rebbe gave instructions that Lag BaOmer parades and children’s rallies should take place not only in New York, but across the world, especially in Israel. Thousands of children participated in the tens of rallies that took place that year, and to this day, Chabad organizes hundreds of Lag BaOmer parades around the world every year.
