I’m at the Iowa State University Football stadium in Ames, IA, braving Winter Storm #Bellamy. The driving conditions are tough, but I’m puzzled by this statue. Could any Iowa State fans help me identify it? Is it the mascot? Live coverage on The Weather Channel. Stay safe, everyone! #IowaWeather #WinterStorm

Some western NC communities may be out of power for the whole winter. I spoke Victoria in Little Creek community and she shared with me how they are facing 6 months or longer without power. But with the help of many some are helping in a big way. She shared with me how Samaritan's Purse has flown in several helicopter loads of supplies including 52 whole house generators. Listen to Victoria as she shares their story. #peoplehelpingpeople #appalachiastrong #NorthCarolina

Reporting from Lena, Illinois, tonight (April 17th) for The Weather Channel following this afternoon’s tornado. The damage through the town is widespread, with several homes and businesses sustaining substantial structural damage. Many areas are currently difficult to access due to a significant number of downed trees and power lines across the roadways. The most important update: despite the severity of the property damage, there are no known deaths or injuries reported at this time. Local crews are on-site working to clear debris and restore access. Stay safe and stay weather-aware throughout the evening as severe weather is still ongoing in parts of the country with numerous tornado warnings active still. #ILwx #LenaIL #Tornado #TheWeatherChannel #Illinois #SevereWeather

In between my Arizona flooding coverage for The Weather Channel I got to swing by Arizona Snowbowl north of Flagstaff on Saturday and the Aspen colors were amazing. The clouds even broke for some sunshine at times and caused the yellows and oranges to glow. Turn on the audio to enjoy and relax for a moment. 🌊🚔🔥 A must-watch video that highlights the incredible bravery of our first responders! Police Chief Scott Rose from Hardy, AR, and a firefighter risked their lives in floodwaters to reach a man in need of medical help. In a daring rescue, Shape County Sheriff Shane Russell and his team saved them. Despite the criticism they often face, our law enforcement and firefighters are true heroes, putting their lives on the line every day to keep us safe. Let’s share this story widely to honor their dedication and courage and watch their story on The Weather Channel. #FirstResponders #Heroes #police #sheriff

⚠️ Interstate 80 in Iowa: A Winter Danger Zone ⚠️ Winter driving in the Midwest is never easy—but Interstate 80 across Iowa has now been named the most dangerous road in the nation during winter according to a recent study by Samsara. I-80 sees heavy semi-truck traffic, fast-moving vehicles, long rural stretches, and sudden weather changes. Add blowing snow, whiteout conditions, black ice, and sub-zero wind chills, and this interstate can turn deadly in minutes. Pileups, jackknifed semis, and extended road closures are all too common during winter storms. If you’re traveling I-80 in winter: ❄️ Check road conditions before you go ❄️ Slow down and increase following distance ❄️ Avoid travel during active storms if possible ❄️ Carry winter survival supplies ❄️ Respect road closures and warnings This designation isn’t about fear—it’s about awareness and preparation. One decision behind the wheel can save lives. Stay alert. Stay prepared. And if you don’t have to be on I-80 during winter weather—don’t be. #I80 #IowaWeather #WinterDriving #RoadSafety #WinterStorm #TravelSafety #MidwestWeather #SnowAndIce #DriveSafe #WeatherAwareness
