At Pickleslam, some observations: 1. About 2.5k attendees. 90% of the audience were normies on Vegas vacation—this is important. They weren’t familiar with all the rules and gameplay, but it didn’t matter. Attendees were locked in, erupting after every great point. Fan experience translated extremely well to families and the average viewer. Many left the arena saying “that was incredible!” 2. Mic’d up players created high entertainment value. The audience was primed for laughs and entertainment (we’re in Vegas after all)—however, pro pickle could learn and gain a larger audience by capturing these candid moments a la TGL. Pro pball missing out on viral content opps and modern production tweaks that enhance fan engagement. 3. Agassi bh is still $$$, Steffi closing on mid-court volleys with ease. They’d actually be a problem on pro senior tours. Final thought: The celeb exhibition format might not be scalable, but the production value translating directly to pickle noobs shows that pickle IS arena-ready and can find a mainstream audience with further investment, time, and format experimentation. Also, andyroddick is mid.
