The Indo-Pacific is home to the largest economies in the world - and this region accounts for two-thirds of global GDP. Growing the economy to create jobs and lift wages is my biggest priority. And, as a trading nation, with one in four of Kiwi jobs tied to trade, engaging with world leaders is as important as it gets for our economy. That’s what I’m doing this week here in Malaysia and South Korea.

I’ve launched my campaign for Botany with this message: National is promising No New Taxes this election. It’s either No New Taxes with National or nine new taxes with Labour and their coalition.

It’s been confronting today to see the scale of destruction communities are dealing with. I’ve just finished surveying the slip damage at Te Araroa before landing at Tokaratangi Rugby Club to meet with affected locals.

The Christchurch BP Charge Gigahub is ready to go with 12 EV charge points, with even more to follow in the next phase and the option to add more as demand grows. Projects just like this one are key in our plan to grow our economy and reduce emissions in order to achieve a Net Zero 2050. Our Government has a plan to significantly increase the number of public EV charging pointsacross New Zealand, with a goal of having 10,000 charging points ready by 2030. It’s important we do this to give Kiwis the confidence to purchase EVs to alleviate range anxiety and know that the charging infrastructure is in place.

Labour were obsessed with slowing Kiwis down with illogical and untargeted speed limit reductions on state highways and local roads. We campaigned on removing these blanket speed limit reductions – and we are getting it done, starting tonight.

Our Free Trade Agreement with India will be signed next week, an agreement that gives NZ exporters access to 1.4 billion customers. It means more jobs on farms and orchards, more money coming into local communities, and more opportunities for Kiwis to get ahead.
