I didn’t get off to a perfect start. Early in my career, I struggled with a lackadaisical work ethic and a knack for finding trouble. The talent was there but talent alone doesn’t get you where you want to go. I had to have some tough conversations with myself. Moments where I looked in the mirror and asked, is this really who you want to be? That’s when I made the decision to challenge the competitor inside me, to live up to the potential, to become the best player and the best person I could be. Period. From that moment on, I stacked the work. One rep. One skate. One game. One season at a time. The compound effect of that discipline built something greater than I ever could’ve imagined. Over time, my ability to play at a high level wasn’t the exception, it became the standard. And that’s the lesson: potential means nothing if you’re not willing to do the work. Sent
