A lot of people are assuming (probably out of classism) that Rob Ashton is gonna be weak on social issues even if he is strong on labour "Bill C-5, the Building Canada Act, will shape how our country undertakes big projects in the years ahead. It could create opportunities for good union jobs and strong communities. But only if Indigenous rights are at the centre. That’s why I believe Bill C-5 must live up to Canada’s commitments under UNDRIP. Free, prior, and informed consent isn’t just a principle. It’s the path to real reconciliation: This is pretty decent stuff, and a reminder that the CCF-NDP has always been left both socially and economically
