Sokratis Papastathopoulos was inducted into the Hall of Fame at the gazzetta.gr Awards. The former Arsenal defender, who retired in 2024, received the award from his 90-year-old grandfather, who travelled from Kalamata to Athens and couldn't hold back his tears. 🗣️ "I dedicate this award to my grandfather. He was the first person to believe in me and I love him very much. He is 90 years old, and we continue." 💙 🗣️ "I have loved this child so much," his grandfather said. "Everything he achieved in his career, he did for me and for himself."

Ryan Smith was a boyhood Arsenal fan who lived the dream, graduating from the Arsenal academy alongside the likes of Cesc Fàbregas, Gaël Clichy and Quincy Owusu-Abeyie. He made his first-team debut at just 16 years old, a moment every young player dreams of. But in 2004, a serious knee injury changed everything. Ryan never fully recovered, and by the time he was 26, doctors described his knee as that of a 70-year-old. Despite the heartbreak of an early retirement, Ryan didn’t let adversity define him. Today, he’s the director of Sporting Talent, using his experience to guide and inspire the next generation of footballers. His journey is a powerful reminder: what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. With faith, belief and the right mindset, there’s always light at the end of the tunnel. 🎥 GOAL Jay Legate
