Elizabeth Berkley played Nomi Malone in Paul Verhoeven’s Showgirls (1995), a role intended to move her beyond her Saved by the Bell image. The film was poorly received and earned multiple Golden Raspberry Awards. Its backlash, Berkley later said, left her “locked out” of the industry for two years; her agency, CAA, dropped her. She rebuilt her career through theatre, earning praise for London’s West End production of Lenny (1999) before appearing on Broadway in Sly Fox and Hurlyburly. She later returned to film and television with roles in Any Given Sunday (1999), The Curse of the Jade Scorpion (2001), CSI: Miami, and The L Word. As Showgirls developed a devoted camp following, Berkley embraced its fans. She reprised Jessie Spano in Peacock’s Saved by the Bell revival in 2020, serving as an executive producer, and authored the New York Times bestseller Ask-Elizabeth (2011), a self-esteem program for adolescent girls. Her later projects include the body-horror film Shell (2024) and Ryan Murphy’s legal drama All’s Fair.

The rise of ultra-short vertical streaming apps has quietly birthed a completely new style of breakneck Hollywood production engineering. This specific frame showcasing actresses Li Berlinskaya and Karolina Polinski captures that exact constraint forcing heavy tension into a narrow column of screen space where a single subtle shift can completely obscure a co-star.

In 2 Broke Girls, Caroline hilariously discovers that the aircraft they’re flying on is actually her family’s old private jet, repossessed after her father’s scandal. Things get even funnier when she and Max realize they’re sharing the flight with rapper 2 Chainz.

This role was so emotionally and physically taxing that Jennifer Lawrence actually tore a diaphragm and dislocated a rib from hyperventilating during intense takes. The white tank top worn by Lawrence in this film (and similarly in her 2012 film House at the End of the Street) is a classic
