The win of Kibaki in 2007 opened a thread that seems to have been repeated in 2017, where there is this notion that somehow the sitting president cannot lose an election. The Kibaki election was a proper primitive flip of election results. The president at some point was trailing Raila by over a million votes, then somehow by Sunday the next day the numbers had changed, and somehow Kibaki was reelected.
