You might have thought that building a captive solar array to synthesize oil and gas beneath the California sky feels incredible. And you'd be right! Terraform is hiring!

This is too much fun. A render of how the quilted hyperbolic isotensoid Mars city structure might work.

Check out the upgraded Mars city environment at Absolutely crazy how much better I can tell the story of open spaces with tensile columns vs just seven years ago, when I managed one crappy render. This project has really pushed the limits of procedural generation, and the Mars city depicted would take about 12 hours to walk across. The render rewards a capable GPU but it also works on mobile. Reply in thread with screenshots of your favorite features and/or bugs.

Got it running with a terrain map in cesium. This is NASA LROC LOLA data at full resolution. I take a close look at Malapert and Leibniz peaks near the south pole.

I can finally post this now. A somewhat solipsistic view of our progress with reading scrolls. Brought to you by Mathematica and ffmpeg.

I now have global high res maps of the Moon with terrain, terrain shading, Earth visibility overlay, and sun visibility overlay. DM me if you want to run this data in Google Earth.

It was super cool to meet Jared Isaacman last week. Here's how our first ever conversation went. Rook: "Thank you for coming, Casey. Where are you from?" Casey: "Australia!" Rook: "Australia is a beautiful country." Casey: "Yes." Rook: "FROM SPACE!!" I can't argue with that. I don't think even Dr. Buzz Aldrin managed to flex that hard when I met him. Later, we flew upside down a bit in a cute jet that looks like a mosquito.

Here's a dodgy screencast demonstrating the full zoom of the global Mars topo color map. The 20 m resolution version will be about 200 GB, currently prepping it for upload and sharing. Happy NASA Administrator Jared Isaacman swearing in day for all who celebrate. Mars is so beautiful! We should go there!
