What a fun series, the Phillies were a formidable opponent. The Braves move on. Lots of talk about what was going on in this NBC booth. Special thanks to Matty V., John Kruk and Joey Votto for making this video to set the record straight.

Annoying. Legal, and you could argue very smart, but annoying, especially when it happens to your team.

Just my guess that we resume sometime after 3. I want to be wrong. Grant Holmes has just 26 pitches through 3IP. 9 up, 9 down.

A friend from ESPN sent this to me today. I believe it is part of a SportsCenter documentary or retrospective. 1995. Don’t ask how the game went, it went exactly how you think it did.

Slight rain delay here in North Port. We got our fan on it though, infield should be dry in approximately 18-26 hours.

I asked my youngest son to use my first ever MLB bat in what could be his final travel ball game last night. "How old is this thing?" - 30 years "What kind of wood is this?" - Ash "The barrel is super small?" - I know "Ok, I might use it once." - He used it twice

This is a non-story for me but Byrdie was upset last night when he found out some took his sign off after his Yaz interview as insulting to the player. He and I were talking past midnight last night working through it. He felt terrible. Yaz wasn't offended, quite the opposite. You'll see that by the sign of affection he gave Byrdie at the end of the interview and what you'll hear Byrdie share in the video below. Byrdie is a champion of players and wants to bring their stories to you with the greatest appreciation and perspective that he can. That is what last night was. Byride is not on social media but he wanted to share his thoughts with Braves Country. He is a sweetheart of man, friend and teammate, we are lucky to have him.

Don't let anyone tell you the 2-strike approach is dead. Enjoy this absolute masterclass from Mauricio Dubon. After two whiffs on 97 mph fastballs he got a third. He dropped the leg kick, spread out, no stride and smoked a base clearing triple to right field.

Really, really hoping MLB decides to eliminate the pitch clock in the 9th inning of close games (within 3 runs for me). The clock has been necessary and terrific, we just don't need to rush these moments. Every pitch here would have been a clear violation.

Ronald has now seen 82 pitches at 100+ MPH in his career. At the 2:47 mark you can see him hit his first ever home run vs. a pitch with triple digit velocity.

Dylan Dodd appreciation post. Since joining the Braves bullpen full time on May 21st you can reasonably argue that he's been a top 10 bullpen arm in MLB, especially among non-closers. He also has a top 5 walk out song from the bullpen.

There's a misconception that all chase is bad. It's not. It's a matter of knowing where you can expand and still do damage. Drake Baldwin is hitting .292/.956 on pitches outside of the zone. Percentile rankings have some value but we don't play baseball there. Also see: Guerrero, Vladimir, 2018 Hall of Fame class.

After Soto's double in the 9th inning he worked to get Iggy's pitch grips from 2B, trying to distinguish between CH vs FB. It looks like he got them and hopped at 2B to relay to the hitter a CH was coming. Semien did not swing at some good CHs b/c of that and walked as the potential tying run. Iggy either adjusted, Soto got it wrong or Alvarez got caught in between. Either way it didn't cost the Braves but it got too close.

Did you know that Matt Olson's 1st career HR came on June 24, 2017 in the 1st inning? And his 2nd career HR came 6 innings later? Did you also know that Matt Olson hasn't aged a day in the past 10 seasons? Congrats on #300 Matty O!
