The Joe Gibbs Racing v.s. Chris Gabehart and Spire Motorsports case continues. JGR has filed a motion alleging that Gabehart was at Bristol Motor Speedway doing tasks for Spire that they say violated the ruling that he was to undertake only upper management jobs - not competition jobs similar to his JGR past position. JGR employees took photos of Gabehart doing jobs they felt were in the competition area. The filing shows how much is at stake in the case for both sides. Here, for example, is Hendrick Motorsports Vice Chair Jeff Gordon (upper mgmt. level position) debriefing with crew chief Jeff Andrews and Kyle Larson after the Bristol race. He is not the competition director he is the Vice Chairman. I am not sure how it is even possible to rule that an elite level person at a race team not have anything to do with competition. I'm not an attorney but I shot this after the race and it shows how complex the whole issue is. Is a guy like Jeff working in competition or just listening? Who can say for sure? It made me think woah this is gonna be a tough one for both sides in the JGR, Gabehart, Spire case. The back and forth continues. I will leave the opinions up to the lawyers.
