i know people have a lot of opinions about xanadu (1980) but i’m sorry this is the best movie musical closing number ever! nothing tops this level of 80s camp WITH gene kelly roller skating alongside olivia newton-john!

this scene from black narcissus (1947) is so brilliantly shot because it demonstrates the way each sister responds to temptation. sister ruth applies lipstick and falls into temptation while sister clodagh observes, but returns to prayer.
