This is my 5-minute testimony before the US Congress! Open science and open source AI distribute economic gains by enabling hundreds of thousands of small companies and startups to build with AI. It fosters innovation, and fair competition between all. Thanks to ethical openness, it creates a safer path for development of artificial intelligence by giving civil society, non-profits, academia, and policy makers the capabilities they need to counterbalance the power of big private companies. Open science and open source AI prevent blackbox systems, make companies more accountable, and help solving today’s challenges like mitigating biases, reducing misinformation, promoting copyright, & rewarding all stake-holders including artists & content creators in the value creation process. Opening orders for Reachy Mini today, our open-source desktop robot for AI builders, starting at $299! Fully integrated with LeRobot & Hugging Face for the whole community to build AI apps for it (like this dancing one). We'll probably ship a first batch of a hundred this summer, first come first serve!

As Jensen mentioned with Brad Gerstner Bg2 Pod Bill Gurley, something that few people know is that NVIDIA is becoming the American open-source leader in AI, with over 300 contributions of models, datasets and apps on Hugging Face in the past year. And I have a feeling they're just getting started!

This is the first implementation of Grok voice API by xAI on a robot thanks to atariorbit (not perfect yet)! Feels like this could unlock some fun new use cases for robotics agents given that it ranks #1 on Big Bench Audio, the leading audio reasoning benchmark that measures voice agents’ capabilities to solve complex problems!

![Remi plugged OpenAI GPT-4o to Reachy Mini and it's pretty cool. Check the mirror challenge & chess playing in particular! Fun new capabilities: - Image analysis: Reachy Mini can now look at a photo it just took and describe or reason about it - Face tracking: keeps eye contact and makes interactions feel much more natural - Motion fusion: [head wobble while speaking] + [face tracking] + [emotions or dances] can now run simultaneously - Face recognition: runs locally - Autonomous behaviors when idle: when nothing happens for a while, the model can decide to trigger context-based behaviors Questions for the community: • Earlier versions used flute sounds when playing emotions. This one speaks instead (for example the "olala" at the start is an emotion + voice). It completely changes how I perceive the robot (pet? human? kind alien?). Should we keep a toggle to switch between voice and flute sounds? • How do the response delays feel to you?
