Seriously impressive crowd animation in The Star of Cottonland (1984). Characters all look unique and carry props/accessories, walk at different speeds, crowd around one another, cut in line, and make different expressions. It's claustrophobic, but perfectly readable.

I think Sound Euphonium might have some of the best voice acting I've ever heard in anime. Kumiko especially, played by Kurosawa Tomoyo, has such a nuanced performance that even the simplest lines can bring me to tears. The way she says "hai" after Asuka says see you later...man.
