Taxiway U is now open at CLT! The new South Crossfield Taxiway connects the central and east sides of the airfield and features a bridge over Yorkmont Road. ✈️ It also improves de-icing operations and gives aircraft direct taxi access from the de-icing pad to both Runways 36R and 36C.

CLT Airport has been recognized among the 40 airports for reducing flight schedules; however, we have not been notified of any reductions at CLT at this time. Our airline partners, including American, will determine and communicate any schedule changes directly to customers. CLT remains in close communication with our federal and airline partners to stay informed and responsive as needed. There are currently no significant impacts to airport operations. Passengers should check flight status with their airline and plan to arrive in the terminal two hours before domestic flights and three hours before international flights. We extend our sincere thanks to all our partners, especially TSA and ATC staff, for their continued commitment to ensuring travelers reach their destinations safely.

36L/18R ➜ 1L/19R Last night, the first phase of CLT’s runway renumbering was completed as Runway 36L/18R officially became 1L/19R. It's a big task as runway numbers can measure 60 feet tall by 20 feet wide. In addition to pavement markings, signs need to be changed on the taxiways, connectors and runway. Why the change? With CLT’s new 10,000-foot Fourth Parallel Runway (1C/19C) set to open in 2027, the Airport is preparing now for system-wide consistency, safety and FAA compliance.

Winter Storm Gianna is impacting the Charlotte region. CLT remains open and operational, with Airport teams actively responding to conditions. Travelers should know: ✈️ Check directly with your airline for the latest flight information before heading to the Airport. ❄️ A 300-member snow team is continuously clearing runways, taxiways, roadways, sidewalks and pedestrian areas as conditions change. 🛂 TSA Checkpoints 1 and 3 are closed for the remainder of the day. Checkpoint 2 remains open. 🚌 Airport shuttle buses are operating on a reduced schedule and at slower speeds for safety. 🚫 The CLT Airport Overlook is closed. Passengers are encouraged to remain patient, stay informed and prioritize safety throughout their journey.

Starting July 31, two pedestrian skybridges connecting the Hourly Deck and Terminal opens, marking a major milestone in #CLTairport's Terminal Lobby Expansion project. Located on the 5th floor of the Hourly Deck and linking to the 3rd level in the terminal, the skybridges provide a weather-protected, efficient access away from traffic. With the opening of the skybridges, roadway crossings between the terminal and Hourly Deck/Rental Car Facility are prohibited. Pedestrians must use the skybridges or underground walkways. Signage and staff in yellow vests will assist with directions. Learn more:

This 200,000 sq. ft. expansion introduces 10 new gates; seven for Delta, two for Frontier Airlines and one common-use gate, bringing CLT’s total gate count to 124. The crown jewel in #CLTairport's Terminal Lobby Expansion is now unveiled. 👑 Since the Queen Charlotte statue installation in 1990, it has moved twice. Now it has reached its final destination inside the terminal lobby, which is only about 150 feet from her original location. #DestinationCLT
