Soldiers, sailors, air force personnel and marines of our #NATO Alliance, civilians and reservists. During this Holiday Season – as in every season – we want to express our deepest gratitude. For your long hours. For deploying far from home. And above all, for keeping our nations free and secure. Your dedication is a testament to your character. You do not serve for glory nor riches. You serve for the people you love, and for the values we share. During these days – and all other days – we shall also remember those who suffer because of war, Who have been wounded, Or who have made the ultimate sacrifice. We honour you, in true NATO nature, by standing firm together, as we have always done. Our thoughts go also to your families. If you are reunited, cherish this time. If you are apart because of duty, know that every absence and every empty chair, is a sacrifice that matters. Because what you do matters, to all of us, at every moment, of every day. And today, our hearts turn again to you, #Ukrainian soldiers, entering a fourth winter in battle. Four winters of cold nights, of constant danger. But also of resolve, strong as steel. My message goes to the Brothers and Sisters of Ukraine, and in particular to their Armed Forces. On this Day of Remembrance, we honor the countless lives lost in the fight against tyranny and oppression during the Second World War. We remember the courage of those who stood for freedom. The same courage we recognize in you, today. For over three years now, 1169 days, you have defended your nation with unbreakable spirit and unwavering resolve. You are not just fighting for Ukraine, for your families, and your fellow citizens. You are standing on the frontlines of democracy and the right for freedom. NATO sees your sacrifice. NATO hears your voice. And NATO stands with you. We pay tribute to your fallen heroes, who have given everything in this struggle. Their memory strengthens our commitment. To support Ukraine. During the last two days, the 32 Allies of #NATO met in the Chiefs of Defence format in Brussels, to discuss our unified military approach to the security developments of our time. Through SACEUR’s assessment of readiness, deterrence and defence, and SACT’s views on near and far future, we communicate to our citizens and the rest of the world that we are ready for the present and we are prepared for whatever lies on the horizon. Our focus on partnerships, from across the globe, also demonstrates our understanding that our security is global and interconnected, and #NATO must reflect on this reality. And our support for #Ukraine through initiatives like NSATU, JATEC and PURL, continues to grow, showing that our unity and determination are more than words. From our discussions, three main conclusions stand out: We are #united. We are #resilient. We are #dynamic, as we #adapt succesfully, while we #deter effectively! #StrongerTogether #SlavaUkraïni

Yesterday, the military leadership of #NATO’s 32 Allies met in the Chiefs of Defence format, to discuss how to further enhance NATO’s deterrence and defence. After reflecting on my first MCCS and on my first few months as Chair of the NATO Military Committee, I have reaffirmed three core convictions: First, NATO’s deterrence and defence are not mere concepts; they are tangible realities, tested and proven over time. Second, in these challenging times, it is imperative that we continue to provide our political leadership with the most unfettered and professional military advice, ensuring clarity and decisiveness in our collective actions. Third, one of our greatest assets remains the cohesion among our militaries. This cohesion, built on trust, interoperability, and shared purpose, is the bedrock of our collective defence. Looking forward to continuing working with such determination, which such a great team of comrades!
