Trinidad and Tobago’s supply of passport booklets is now critically low, with concerns emerging that the government has instructed officials to slow the rate of issuance as it tries to prevent the country from running out completely. CNC3 News understands the immigration division raised concerns with the Ministry of Homeland Security on several occasions since the new administration took office, warning that passport stocks were declining and urgent intervention was needed. Businessman Dominic Hadeed and his wife have been detained by police after officers executed court-approved search warrants at properties in Westmoorings and Trincity. CCTV footage shows the moment an alleged intruder received an electric shock after entering T&TEC’s Brechin Castle Substation this morning. T&TEC said the individual came into contact with a 132 kV breaker around 9.45 a.m., triggering a fault that caused a significant voltage dip across parts of Trinidad. Authorities later apprehended the individual and took him for medical treatment for severe burns.

Less than three months after US forces moved into Venezuela and detained President Nicolás Maduro, the controversial radar set up in Tobago has now been dismantled. The military-grade system at the ANR Robinson International Airport in Crown Point was removed just five days after Chief Secretary Farley Augustine announced US troops would soon depart. PNM Tobago Council leader Ancil Dennis is welcoming the move, saying it proves the public was misled about the radar’s true purpose.

While some schools are charging registration packages of up to $2,000, others are easing the financial burden on parents. At La Romain Secondary School, there are no registration fees and textbooks are provided free of charge. Determined to break the school's long-standing stigma, Principal Rajesh Sirju hosted a one-hour programme highlighting improvements, including an increased security presence, social workers, guidance counsellors and a proactive PTA. “I done yuh know…” Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley has declined to comment on statements made by Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar at the opening of yesterday’s 50th Caricom Heads of Government Meeting. Persad-Bissessar used her address to criticise the regional bloc for what she described as a failure to stand united behind member states facing external threats, particularly from neighbouring Venezuela. Trinidad and Tobago is mourning the tragic loss of 12-year-old Mercedes Cabrera of Los Iros, Erin, whose body was discovered today along Carapal Road, Erin. Mercedes had reportedly left her grandfather’s home and boarded a PH vehicle on her way to her mother’s nearby residence. Sadly, she never arrived. The young girl was looking forward to a school outing to Mount St. Benedict tomorrow, a trip she was excited to attend. Her body was later found in nearby bushes.
