ODU playing VT and PSU getting strays🤷🏼♂️ With all due respect, worry about your own team, Coach. CJF no longer coaches here. He was someone I supported, but his lack of love from the PSU community was self inflicted. Btw PSU did win a Natty in 94, plus 2 more B1G titles in ‘05 + ‘08, and had 11 wins in 3 of 5 years between ‘05-‘09. And as much good as CJF did, no coach after that has beaten that, even with higher ranked recruiting classes. So you can misremember all you want, but also know where the national championship expectations came from…a certain press conference where a certain coach promised the program would become “elite”. So if he gets ripped for not meeting expectations, know he was the one who set those expectations he didn’t live up to🤔

I hate to be that guy, but he did point ahead to the WIDE OPEN guys ahead. I get why, and a lot of us might do the same. Hard to know unless you’ve been in that situation. But yes, you haven’t coached until that 💩 happens to you or someone you know

This is why you’re a 🤡 when you say “Ok to fire me with a buyout of $5M” You also didn’t spend 26 years to get the job in first place. Or mop the floor. Or do the laundry. Or schedule food + trips. All while living in poverty. You have NO F’ing clue🤡

Not sure how may young players are up and watching this Finals game, but what Josh Hart just did is what wins games! Steal and instead passing ahead for layup, he understood time+score was the priority. Brought it out, they get the dagger basket late in shot clock. Ball game!

Did you pay attention? Up 1, Clemson missed 2nd FT on purpose. So the play UNC drew up in TO meant nothing. They forced deciding 3 to be a turn and heave, instead of a set play🤓 I don’t just say things I didn’t learn from coaches MUCH smarter than me😉

Drill I learned from state champ coach was “6 possessions” 1 min on clock. Goal for starters is to get 6 possessions in a min. Score as quickly as possible, then steal/foul. Shows them they are never out of it. The mentality won us games, including this one down 6 with 50 sec😱

Taped practice last night and mic’d myself up. Probably will share more as we go. But this shocked me. Not 1 player raised their hand when I asked if their coach teaches 1st/2nd/3rd side. Do any of you still teach stuff like that or am I too old school with this?

After watching a lot of basketball, and hearing announcers say over and over how team’s are having difficult time getting ball in from the sideline, I can’t take it anymore😩 Here’s my only, very simple SLOB🏀 Steal it, please!! Some recent game examples in next post🎥

I’m gonna be the bad guy here because Coach has forgotten more than I’ll ever know about 🏀 No clue why he decided to bash trainers and going against air, but these are actual clips from Houston practices. Please find me the defense or 5v5 he’s talking about in these drills🤨

In full transparency, our 2027 Select Team didn’t have their best tournament last week🫣 BUT… For the college coaches who were there, know that in their 3 tournaments, their Assist % was 71%🔥 To put that in perspective, I coached a college team that set school record and finished top 20 in the nation for assists. They were 54%. Our Select Team players will be fun to coach in college💯

Did this video on our 2-2-1 a while ago. Describes how we can trap in different ways. Plus pressing off FT, make or miss. I’ll do more in-depth video this offseason to include how we adjust the levels (1st, 2nd, 3rd) of the press depending on opponents press offense #ATTACK

Late game continued… I always yelled foul when we needed to foul. But this year stole “Purple” from Mr814😈 1:30 left. Team was going to hold 🏀 so we went Purple. Down 6 less than a minute. For those that say we need 3s…we made comeback without a single one made🤷🏼♂️ It’s an AAU sample size, and not HS/College, but some things I learned from changing to “purple”… 🟣Yelling purple instead of foul IMO gave us a little more leeway with refs to go for ball, instead of automatic whistle 🟣With automatic fouls not being called when we went for the ball, even though it made game more physical, it actually created more of a mental impact in our favor. That won us the game as much as creating extra possessions down the stretch 🟣IMO lot easier to communicate switch in your defense, both on and off, when you give your “fouling defense” a name So I appreciate Mr814 for sharing so I could learn and steal it🤝
