The TV Networks (specifically Fox and ABC) are refusing to run this ad for Saving College Sports today during the games. No good reason given as to why - just ignoring us or telling us to contact their attorneys. The General Council for one major network told me it was a “business decision”. This was AFTER we’d sent them a large wire to pay for the ads! Why would the networks want to silence a legitimate debate around an issue that affects hundreds of thousands of kids and is existentially threatening to women’s sports and Olympic sports? What is the “business reason” that overrides the benefit and enjoyment that college sports provide to tens of millions of Americans? What are they hiding?? If there was ever a question that money, control, and greed are being prioritized over student athletes, fans, and communities…Here you go!! We all knew that the current situation in college sports seemed very slimy and was driven by people who couldn’t care less about the common good…. But we had no idea how bad it truly is!! It’s become obvious…We have to drain the swamp that College Sports have become!! This fight isn’t about me, and it certainly isn’t about TV ads - it’s much bigger. It’s about doing what is right and necessary to save a great American institution. I promise that I won’t stop fighting until we are successful in solving this problem, and I know I can count on many of you to join me!

The G.I. Bill is the only program in history to send more kids to college than College Sports. 60% of American CEO’s have College Sports backgrounds. Our Olympic development program is housed almost entirely inside College Sports. Competition between schools and conferences is core to the value of the experience, and we all want our teams to win. But College Sports exist for the benefit of ALL Americans and to provide life changing opportunity to kids who would not have it otherwise. It’s about developing leaders for the next generation! We MUST set aside tribalism and greed and recognize that the importance of Saving College Sports goes FAR beyond what happens on the field. And it DEFINITELY matters more than how much money goes into a commissioner or executive’s pocket! More of my CNBC interview…

To Save College Sports, we must solve a business problem: Fix a system that is fully professionalized on the cost side but only semi-professionalized on the revenue side. This problem CAN be solved. The solutions are common business sense and proven by decades of solid, clear data. I talked about these problems and the solutions at a CNBC event last week.

Saving College Sports really isn’t that complicated, and it isn’t a partisan issue - It all comes down to basic common business sense. Unfortunately, we need Federal legislation to get it done, and Washington can complicate a bowling ball!! Americans want us to come together and find a solution!!

Last weekend two of the major TV Networks (ABC/Disney and Fox Sports) refused to air Saving College Sports ad, that calls out the greed of the Conference Commissioners as being a major roadblock to solving the problems in College Sports. One of the networks told us it was a “business decision”. This week they are allowing us to air the ad on the condition that we change the words “Conference Commissioners” to “Powerful Special Interests”. Done. Now that nobody’s feelings are hurt, let’s go enjoy a great day of college football! Here is the “new” ad, that will air today.

Coach Saban is exactly right! We must make the Protecting College Sports Act law. It is our only chance to contain the chaos that threatens the uniquely American and massively impactful institution of college sports! Stop the chaos, and protect the student athletes, the universities and the communities that are so important to all of us!

Tomorrow is the 2 year anniversary of the day we lost Coach Leach. 🏴☠️ Coincidentally, I was sent this clip today - it’s from a yet to be finished documentary that was filmed 4 or 5 years ago. Really special, and something I will treasure forever. My allergies are really bothering me tonight for some reason 😢
