JB Pritzker on Illinois' sky-high property taxes: "Not my fault." During an interview this week, he blamed local governments three times for Illinois having the highest property taxes in the country. Pritzker hopes you won't notice he: -pushes and signs a massive number of unfunded mandates that force local governments to raise property taxes to pay for them (44 last year alone) -constantly attempts to cut LGDF, forcing municipalities and counties to raise property taxes to make up the shortfall -increases school funding only the required minimum amount each year, not even keeping pace with inflation, forcing districts to continue to over-rely on property taxes -repeatedly attempts to stop the Property Tax Relief Grant program, one of the few state tools specifically designed to lower property taxes For JB Pritzker, it's always someone else's fault. After 8 years of excuses, it's time to elect a governor who will actually lead.

This #WhiteSox franchise is a joke. The product on the field is pathetic, and the rest of the organization is just as bad. Tons of fans bought tickets to tonight's game, and sat through a horrible game, because there was supposed to be a concert afterwards. Then after the game they announce (with no apology, explanation, or sweetener to soften the blow) the concert was canceled. They surely knew well before then and could've let people know earlier, but they wanted people to stick around and buy concessions for longer. I can't defend this franchise anymore. The "sell the team" chants were well earned.

You're gonna want to be sitting down when you open your energy bill for June. Electricity rates in Illinois went up more than 15% yet again on June 1st. Turns out decreasing supply by closing cleaner natural gas plants too soon while increasing demand with data centers leads to skyrocketing costs for working families, small businesses, and manufacturers. Who could've predicted that? Many of us did. For years. But Pritzker cared more about lining up talking points for his national ambitions than helping everyday Illinoisans.

This morning, while I was riding an elevator with Darren Bailey and his wife, they called a Chicago suburb "the belly of the beast." Then Darren in his speech railed on young people, basically calling us unpatriotic. ...just in case you thought he had actually changed.

JB Pritzker has given over $1 billion in tax breaks to data centers, at one point making us the #2 state for data centers in the country (we're #4 now). All with no guardrails to protect local residents or regulate energy or water usage. So it's no surprise to see the room packed with opponents when a 3rd data center campus was being proposed in Hoffman Estates. Pritzker and Springfield failed to pause tax incentives for data centers and failed to put in place common sense regulations that ensure data centers pay all their energy costs, limit water usage, and contribute to a property tax relief fund for Illinoisans. Vote Independent in November and we will get it done.
