To be serious for a moment since so many people are getting bent out of shape I'm going to make a rare serious post. Firstly. Your game, your efforts, your call do what you think is best. None of this is or was me wanting to throw shade at Yacht Club. They are cool and have been cool to us. Second. I despise the repackaging of cheats as 'accessibility'. They are cheats, tweaks or modifiers with the intention of making things easier for the one playing. I realize and accept that I grew up in an entirely different era of gaming. It was not unusual then to not be able to beat a game. I remember vividly asking the 'big kid' to beat something in Mario 64 because I was not good enough. I watched him beat it and was marveled. The thought never crossed my mind that it was not fair or that I should have been able to do it. Instead the thought was "wow one day I COULD do that!" Being unable to overcome a challenge can inspire as easily as it can decimate the spirit. It is going to vary wildly from person to person. However if one is coddled and unable to build that inner spiritual pillar to stand against adversity and learn to overcome it they will be decimated when life hits them with a difficulty they can't handle. Life does not care. There are no 'accessibility options' in life. Third. We have done stuff like this before. We use a system we call blessings and curses. Blessings and curses are modifiers you activate before you start a play through of the game. These are not things you can toggle on as and when you desire. You earn special rewards for completing things with different amounts on. Curses + points and Blessings - points. It is very simple. An additional layer that I think is important is that these are unlocked and earned. That lets you do more fun silly things with them and let people get goofy on replays. The first play through of a game should be relatively 'clean' in my opinion. Fourth. Rewards and achievements in a game are part of the point. If everyone could log into OSRS and just get an inferno cape or a Zuk helm it would mean nothing. It is part of the motivation to push press and achieve. I will always be staunchly against the idea of achievements and victory being a forgone conclusion because there is no better way to make memories than to overcome something that was beating you down. Earning a place in an upper percentile of a game feels good and exciting. Game developers come from all sorts of different perspectives and stories. We can have our own opinions and hills to die on. These are merely some of mine.
