36-year-old Muslim Mohammad Anees, a resident of Bhalswa Dairy in North West Delhi, 😥🙏 Rt worked as a seasonal vegetable and fruit trader. On the night of April 20, at around 2 a.m., he was heading to Azadpur Mandi with his friend Narendra Verma to make a payment. According to his family, when the two reached near the Jahangirpuri police chowki, they were stopped and questioned about their destination. After informing the police that they were on their way to Azadpur Mandi, police personnel allegedly accused them of theft and began assaulting them. The family alleged that both men were brutally beaten. Hindu Narendra Verma was left on the road after being presumed dead, while Anees was taken to the police station, where he was allegedly assaulted again. He later succumbed to his injuries, the family claimed. They further alleged that despite repeatedly approaching the police and filing complaints, their pleas have gone unheard.
