Kingston Flemings says that some people get “subservient” with Houston’s winning, but that it’s not easy. “Every single game we play, we’re playing other professional athletes. It’s hard. Making the (NCAA Tournament) is hard. Making seven straight Sweet 16s is hard… obviously we were hoping for more, I know we could’ve got more. But we’re just proud for everything we did.” “We tried our hardest. Trust me. We tried for sure. We got the shots that we wanted. But I can’t say that we didn’t try.”

He is so smart.” “He speaks five languages fluently, including Portuguese and French… and he speaks English. And the hardest language he’s had to learn is JoJo.” 😆

Coach Kelvin Sampson says that when former players in the pros call him, he “goes from being their coach to being their financial advisor.” “Save your money. You don’t need a Mercedes. There’s nothing wrong with driving a Ford. Go to Chastang Ford, get a Ford Explorer or Expedition. Or go to high country Chevrolet and get a nice Tahoe. Nothing wrong with those cars.”

Houston DC Austin Armstrong on importance of transparency with players about where they stand: “I was always bothered when the leader would soft shoot around where I was at. They told me what I wanted to hear.“ Says he messaged every defensive player last week asking what he could do better for them and the unit. The common answer: “You guys hold us to a high standard, you’re hard on us, you’re accountable. But we want you to turn it up even more.”
