"Hi, my name is Courtney Allen, and I am with WSMV4." Dolly Parton: "I know." I was born and raised in East Tennessee, where Dolly Parton is from. Funny enough, when I think of the "Queen of Country Music," her music career is the last thing I think of. When I think of Dolly, I think of how she used the success she achieved and the wealth she amassed to pour back into where she is from. She created tens of thousands of jobs in East Tennessee through Dollywood and Splash Country. She donated millions of dollars to causes like Hurricane Helene relief and to a local children's hospital, which now bears her name. Worldwide, she touched millions of children's lives through her Imagination Library. I could go on. Of all the icons, Dolly has always been the one I admire most. When I interviewed her at the opening of her musical a year ago, she didn't have to give a local news reporter in Nashville any recognition. She chose to do so anyway. Not because of who I am, but because of who she was: someone who took every opportunity in her life to make others feel seen. Rest in peace, Dolly 🦋
