“I am a son of Saint Augustine, an Augustinian. With you I am a Christian, for you I am a Bishop.” — Pope Leo XIV What a profound and humble introduction from the new Successor of Peter. With these words, Pope Leo XIV identifies not only his theological heritage, but also the heart of his mission—rooted in the wisdom of St. Augustine, one of the greatest doctors of the Church. To be a son of Augustine is to embrace a spirituality of interior conversion, love for truth, and unwavering fidelity to Christ and His Church. It is to walk the path of humility, prayer, and repentance, all while upholding the deepest doctrines of the Faith—not as burdens, but as treasures. In an age of confusion, his voice echoes Augustine’s plea: “Let us cling to the Church, which alone possesses the true doctrine.” May the Church under Pope Leo XIV rediscover the strength of her foundations, the beauty of her moral clarity, and the radiance of her unchanging truth. We pray that the flame of Augustinian wisdom will burn brightly in this new pontificate—and lead us closer to the Heart of Christ, through the love of His Bride, the Holy Catholic Church.

In 1975, Robert Prevost was at the top of his game. A math teacher in Chicago. Accepted into Harvard Law. But he chose a different path — he became a priest. He joined a missionary order and moved to Peru. Not to the cities. To the remote villages — where children die from treatable diseases, and families walk miles just for clean water. Robert didn’t just live among the people — he became one of them. He learned Quechua, the sacred Incan language. Carried food for days on foot. Slept on dirt floors. Taught math under broken rooftops. Carried the sick on donkeys. Prayed under the stars. His acts were not broadcast, but they echoed through the Andes. Bishops noticed. The Vatican noticed. They called him back to lead the Augustinian order across 40 countries. He kept his sandals. He walked with the poor. He rejected luxury. Rome brought him closer: • Archbishop (2020) • Cardinal (2022) • Pope Leo XIV (2025) Even then, each year he returned to those same villages. Sat on dirt floors. Held hands of the elderly and sick. Because for him, leadership is about presence, not position. The Vatican didn’t just see a priest. They saw a leader with soul. The rest is now history.

It will be a mystical body of the Antichrist that will in all externals resemble the mystical body of Christ.”

Pope St.Paul VI says, “the smoke of Satan has entered the Church of God” “… We would say that, through some mysterious crack—no, it’s not mysterious; through some crack, the smoke of Satan has entered the Church of God. There is doubt, uncertainty, problems, unrest, dissatisfaction, confrontation. “The Church is no longer trusted. We trust the first pagan prophet we see who speaks to us in some newspaper, and we run behind him and ask him if he has the formula for true life. I repeat, doubt has entered our conscience. And it entered through the windows that should have been open to the light: science.” “… It was thought that, after the Council, sunny days would come for the history of the Church. Nevertheless, what came were days of clouds, of storms, of darkness, of searching, of uncertainty … We tried to dig abysses instead of covering them …” Let us also listen to the words of Pope Benedict XVI. If one listens attentively, one can grasp the true meaning of what he teaches. For clarity, one should read Evangelii Nuntiandi and the Credo of the People of God, and also understand why Pope Saint Paul VI wrote the encyclical Mysterium Fidei during the time of the Second Vatican Council. Only then can one properly discern how many bishops, across various nations, stood in opposition to the authentic teaching of the Church.

Archbishop Lefebvre is not above the promise that our Lord gave to the successor of Saint Peter. Christ assured Peter and his successors of His abiding assistance and protection in governing the Church. No bishop, however sincere he may believe himself to be, stands above that divine promise. Therefore, Catholics must beware of creating or supporting schism within the Church. Fidelity to Christ includes fidelity to the Vicar of Christ. To separate oneself from the lawful authority of the Church in the name of preserving the faith is a grave danger, because unity with Peter is part of God’s plan for safeguarding the truth.

No faithful Catholic has any personal issue with the Vicar of Christ. Our love and respect for the Pope remain firm as for the one who holds the office instituted by Christ Himself. However, when the protector of the faith appears to deviate from the authentic deposit of faith, the faithful are not only permitted but obliged to defend the truth handed down through the Apostles. “True loyalty to the Church includes fidelity to the truth she teaches. When error arises, charity demands correction.” This is affirmed by Canon 212 §3 of the Code of Canon Law: “According to the knowledge, competence, and prestige which they possess, the Christian faithful have the right and even at times the duty to manifest to the sacred pastors their opinion on matters which pertain to the good of the Church.” Moreover, Vatican II’s Dogmatic Constitution Lumen Gentium, §12 teaches: “The whole body of the faithful, who have an anointing that comes from the Holy One, cannot err in matters of belief. They manifest this special property by means of the whole people’s supernatural discernment in matters of faith.” Therefore, when Catholics defend the authentic doctrine and correct errors in the light of the Gospel, they are not acting against the Pope or the Church—they are acting in charity and in the power of the Holy Spirit, safeguarding the faith that leads to eternal life.
