WATCH This incident occurred today, 27 June, at Musami Cross, Domborembudzi. These schoolboys boarded a Bolt Cutter bus at Juru Growth Point heading to Mutoko. The bus was already full when they got on, but they were told there would be seats available shortly. However, when the bus reached Musami Cross, it became even more overloaded. The boys then asked for a refund for the remaining part of their journey so they could stay behind and find alternative transport. UPDATE | A 45-year-old Bolt Cutter Bus Service conductor, Ranjisi Manyati, has been sentenced to seven months in jail after assauIting a passenger and refusing to return his money. The passenger, 21-year-old Jonathan Nyoni, had paid US$20 for bus fares but asked for a refund after discovering the bus was overloaded. Instead of returning the money, the conductor allegedly attack€d him, punching, slapping, and kicking him in the face. Nyoni was treated at hospital and reported the matter to the police. Manyati pleaded guilty to both assauIt and theft and was sentenced to prison. Well done Zimbabwe Republic Police 👏🏾

The police shared the following statement on their social media platforms: The ZRP reminds the public that the Cyber and Data Protection Act, Ch 12:07 criminalizes creating, distributing or publishing false or misleading information on digital platforms. This includes circulating deepfake videos, fabricated news, misleading claims, using digital platforms to humiliate, threaten or demean individuals or institutions and producing or sharing AI-generated content that misrepresents reality. The ZRP is investigating a social media personality known as Dr. David Nhunzva for allegedly creating AI-generated videos intended to damage the image of the ZRP. The ZRP will not tolerate the misuse of digital technologies to mislead the public, harm reputations or undermine trust in national institutions. It is therefore in the interest of Dr. David Nhunzva to report to CID Law and Order to assist in the on-going investigations.

Good afternoon Crime Watch Zim. I need help. I have been trying to reach out to a lady named Nelia Nyati, who is based in the UK. She sent her two sons to study in Namibia around June or July 2024. Unfortunately, one of the boys, Charles “Taku” Nyati, is mentally unstable and appears to be struggling with untreated childhood trauma 😢. Around July last year, my son found Taku in a park searching for food in bins. People there told him that the boy was from Zimbabwe, so my son called me and I rushed there. After speaking to Taku and gathering some information, I took him to the college where he was supposed to be studying, and that is when I heard a very troubling story. I later managed to get the mother’s number and contacted her. She explained that Taku had gone through very difficult experiences while growing up, but she never mentioned any proper plan or support to help him. When I contacted her, I genuinely hoped the child would finally receive the help he needs. At the time, Taku had already spent about four months living on the streets in a foreign country. I took him into my home, cleaned him up, and stayed with him while waiting for his mother to make a plan. The school also confirmed that he was mentally unstable, and the mother admitted the same. I then suggested that he return to Zimbabwe where there are relatives who could possibly assist him, rather than leaving him stranded in Namibia. The older brother, Shaquille, who also stays in Namibia, does not seem concerned about Taku’s situation. He has accommodation, and their mother sends him money from the UK for school fees and upkeep. I also later discovered that the two boys have different fathers. After staying with Taku for about three weeks, I managed to help him return to school and back into the hostel. It was not easy, and sadly, the mother showed very little concern throughout the process. Unfortunately, things did not last long. Taku was later expelled from the hostel and has been back on the streets since September last year 😢. I have tried reaching out to the mother again, but she no longer even opens my messages. I will attach screenshots of our conversations and her UK number. The boy is not looking well at all, and I fear the worst may happen to him while he is suffering alone in Namibia. From our conversations, she mentioned that the father’s name is Jeffrey Takawira. I will also attach the boy’s photo. Kana pane anokwanisa kubatsira mwana uyu, please do. Good day. I was involved in an incident in Bulawayo on Plumtree Road, in front of Tiger Wheel & Tyre. A kombi driver stopped in the middle of the road, causing an obstruction. When I confronted him about it, he threatened me with an axe and told me that I was a "useless white person" whom he could easily kiII. I would like to make the public aware of this behaviour. I have a short video of the incident. Unfortunately, I was unable to capture the vehicle's registration number clearly, but the driver's face is visible and can be seen clearly in the footage. WATCH | Tatenda Tagwireyi from Zimbabwe says he was tricked into joining the Russian military after being promised a well-paying and safe job. While fighting for Russia in the Russia–Ukraine war, he was captured by Ukrainian forces after surviving a drone attack and is now being held as a prisoner of war in Ukraine. In a video released after his capture, Tagwireyi warned other Africans not to trust recruiters who promise jobs in Russia. He claims that foreign recruits are often misled, have their passports and phones taken away, and are sent to the frontlines without fully understanding what they have signed up for. Tagwireyi said he suffered greatly during the war and was abandoned by his unit.

On 18 June 2026, at around 1 PM, I was on my way to the University of Zimbabwe bus stop to catch a kombi into town when I was approached by a young woman with braids wearing a pink jacket. She stopped me and said, “Sister, please wait.” She then claimed that I had dropped a pink wallet. I told her that I did not own any pink wallet. She then said that another woman had picked up the wallet and that she had found money inside it. She suggested that if the wallet was not mine, we could all share the money. The woman she referred to was wearing an orange skirt and was walking ahead of us. When she was called over, she stopped and pretended to confirm that the wallet did not belong to me. Before they could continue with their story, I switched on my phone camera and started recording. I confronted them and asked if they were not ashamed of trying to scam people in Mt Pleasant using the well-known “chadonha” trick. What I did not know was that they had a getaway vehicle nearby. The driver noticed that I was recording and signalled to them. The woman in the pink jacket then said something to the effect of, “Should we go back?” They immediately ran towards a vehicle and quickly got inside before driving away. WATCH | Thousands of undocumented Zimbabweans who had been stranded in an open field near Langa Train Station in Epping, Cape Town, following the closure of the Department of Home Affairs voluntary repatriation centre, were finally transported to the Beitbridge Border Post on buses provided by the South African government. This appears to contradict earlier reports that businessman Wicknell Chivayo had hired buses to transport them. Due to limited space on the buses, many of the deportees were instructed to leave their belongings behind and were assured that the items would be transported separately. However, hours after the buses departed, members of the public were seen helping themselves to some of the belongings. Later, a garbage truck was spotted collecting and disposing of many of the remaining items. It is heartbreaking to see fellow Zimbabweans lose the few possessions they had left during an already difficult and uncertain period. For many, these belongings represented everything they owned. No one should have to endure such treatment while facing the challenges of displacement, deportation, and an uncertain future.
