Tonight was the annual “Burning of the Ball” following the conclusion of the final regular season night game at Wrigley Field. Bleacher Jeff honored the 2026 season, fans, and Cubs organization with a speech. A baseball which had been signed by fans during tonight Cubs game was then burned. #CUBS

Last week I did my 2nd attempt at my now annual Ferris Bueller Day Off roadtrip. The 1986 film was John Hughes’ love letter to Chicago and trying to check every filming location in a day makes for some fun albeit logistically tedious. Winnetka to Highland Park to Northbrook to Chicago activities then back north to Glencoe Beach, Highland Park again, and finally Winnetka. The overall objective was to go to Skydeck Chicago, a fancy lunch, see some Chicago Cubs baseball, and The Art Institute of Chicago all in one day. Beyond going to almost every location in plot order, this year’s challenge was to capture a printout of the respective location’s film freeze frame on location. Thanks to the others who joined in on the fun, Ferris File for the nuanced research on the production, big thank you to Skydeck Chicago for helping out with tickets.
