.Shams Charania on the Warriors 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️ "The Warriors could've got in the Jaylen Brown sweepstakes if they wanted to give up 4 first round picks-ish, in that range. They decided not to from my understanding. Those 2 teams, the Warriors and Celtics did talk about a Jaylen Brown trade around the trade deadline and it was around several first round draft picks, potential swaps, and seconds. The Warriors decided not to go down that route and so that's on them. That's the decision they made. If they had went out and got that done, does that make LeBron James more viable? If the Warriors had gone out and been willing to give up several draft capital to go get an Anthony Davis from Washington, does LeBron James follow suit? My understanding was if the Warriors were able to get Anthony Davis, they had as good of a chance, if not better than anyone, to get a LeBron James and I think you have to look at that in the calculus of everything."

Joe Lacob on the Warriors drafting Jonathan Kuminga: "I do not view Jonathan Kuminga as a mistake. I think we may have made some mistakes in how would we handle it and how he handled it, maybe he made some mistakes, and obviously that's well documented and we had to move on, but he's an NBA player and played in the playoffs, and did really well. This not a mistake at the 7th pick. There were 7th picks that are out of the League."

Joe Lacob on Mike Dunleavy Jr. "I don't care what anybody says, this guy is one of the best GM's in the League. I love him. I think he's great. He's really smart, incredibly hard working, has done a great job with the draft since he's been here from what I can see, 2nd round picks that have been certainly shot above their weight if you will. Yaxel looks really good, was the Summer League MVP. I mean he takes a great interest in the organization as a whole. Mike is really good and I'm really happy to have him as the guy making the basketball decisions on our side."

Marcus Thompson (Marcus Thompson II) on his takeaway from the Mike Dunleavy Jr. press conference: "It sounded like we're about 6 months away from the plug being pulled on this era. Essentially the trade deadline is February 11th and the new talking point is 'Hey, we got expiring contracts, $100 million.' Those are only valuable up until February 11th, so you got 6 months. It's 6 months and really less when the season starts on October 21st, so you're really looking at 4 months to prove this team is worth keeping together. If not, you cash in them chips. It's probably 6 months left for the Draymond Green era. He's on a 1 year deal, $27.8 million, and doesn't have a no-trade clause, so that's a very tradable contract. It felt like this has been coming for a while, but this, the way Dunleavy was talking, and the way they positioned it, this feels like 'Alright, let's see where we are in February because if we're not where we need to be, then we're just going to start selling pieces off and starting over.' That's what it felt like to me. I don't know how you felt about it, but the talk about $100 million, the talk about still waiting to make a move, these are chips that have to be used by February 11th. There's no more Kuminga chip. There's no more young talent to trade. The last chips are these expiring contracts. That is Jimmy Butler. That is Draymond Green. That is Kristaps Porzingis. It's these big pieces that they can essentially cash in and if they cash in 1, they might as well cash in all of them because I don't know what 1 is giving you to make you keep the other 2."

Draymond Green (Draymond Green) on why he declined his player option: “I’m always willing to work with the team on whatever it is, especially at this point in my career. So my decision to opt out was for a few reasons. As you all know, I’ve always taken the approach of working with the organization. I’ve been in 1 place for 14 years. It’s more of a family to me than anything. Like you’re talking people I’ve been in relationships with over the course of the last 14 years. I view Golden State more like Michigan State, like it’s more like an alma mater to me as I’ve been somewhere for 14 years. So, when in a position to try to help better our team, to try to help better this organization, I’m always intrigued by that route. So opting out, I think for us, it leaves optionality. It gives optionality. It allows to possibly do some things. Joe Lacob, Peter Guber, the ownership group has never been one to shy away from doing things that help this team get better and if I can stand on that same side and have a hand in helping this organization be in a better position, I’m always willing to do that. So it gives everyone optionality from me opting out and we’ll figure it out from here on what’s the best course moving forward. So I feel great about it and we’ll see where it goes from here.”
