Brian Windhorst on the Warriors 🤔 "If you want to say you didn't like their offseason, that's fine. If you want to say 'I don't think this team is going anywhere,' that's fine. I don't like the narrative that 'The Warriors haven't done enough or disrespected Steph.' Just watch and see what happens."

Steph Curry talks about what he has seen from Yaxel: "I watched all the Summer League games. I haven't been there in person, but [Yaxel] looks very confident, poised, competitive. He's a champion and I'm excited to get out there and figure it out with him. Rookies are awesome because they bring such good energy into the locker room, especially guys with talent like him, so that's what we need."

Draymond Green defends Steph Curry in response to the recent statements made by Monta Ellis and Jeff Teague: "I didn't necessarily agree with Jeff Teague's statement about Dame either and it has nothing to do with who Dame is as a player. Dame is great, 1st ballot Hall of Famer, special, special, special talent. It has nothing to do with that. It has everything to do with that's just not how you win championships. You don't win championships by 'Ah man, move this player' because there's so much more that goes into it. It's not just the basketball. It's the makeup of the person. How does that guy lead? How does the organization then fall into place with that guy being the face of the organization? It's so many other things that goes into it other than just once you step out there and lace the shoes up and go play the basketball game. So I think these statements are null and void and kind of irrelevant because that's just not how championships work. Championships, they're built over time, demeanor, right? Who's to say Monta Ellis in our locker room of our championship teams, who's to say Monta Ellis and his demeanor and how he acts on the daily and how he show up to work on the daily, would lead to the locker room being the same as it is with Steph at the helm? . . . I think [the statements] also takes away what Steph Curry is as a leader, who he is as a leader. I think it also takes away from that. I just don't love these statements in general because it's a false sense of what winning a championship actually requires and quite honestly, that's just now how it goes."

Marcus Thompson (Marcus Thompson II) on his takeaway from the Mike Dunleavy Jr. press conference: "It sounded like we're about 6 months away from the plug being pulled on this era. Essentially the trade deadline is February 11th and the new talking point is 'Hey, we got expiring contracts, $100 million.' Those are only valuable up until February 11th, so you got 6 months. It's 6 months and really less when the season starts on October 21st, so you're really looking at 4 months to prove this team is worth keeping together. If not, you cash in them chips. It's probably 6 months left for the Draymond Green era. He's on a 1 year deal, $27.8 million, and doesn't have a no-trade clause, so that's a very tradable contract. It felt like this has been coming for a while, but this, the way Dunleavy was talking, and the way they positioned it, this feels like 'Alright, let's see where we are in February because if we're not where we need to be, then we're just going to start selling pieces off and starting over.' That's what it felt like to me. I don't know how you felt about it, but the talk about $100 million, the talk about still waiting to make a move, these are chips that have to be used by February 11th. There's no more Kuminga chip. There's no more young talent to trade. The last chips are these expiring contracts. That is Jimmy Butler. That is Draymond Green. That is Kristaps Porzingis. It's these big pieces that they can essentially cash in and if they cash in 1, they might as well cash in all of them because I don't know what 1 is giving you to make you keep the other 2."
