The newest version of our Almanac preprint is out, and just in time for our demo at the Stanford AIMI Symposium 2023! Almanac is a retrieval-augmented LLM that provides up-to-date and verifiable answers to medical queries. Link: We benchmark our approach on a novel dataset of clinical scenarios (n = 130) evaluated by a panel of 5 board-certified & resident physicians, and demonstrate significant increases in factuality (mean of 18% at p-value < 0.05) across all specialties. More interestingly, because the retrieved data acts as a single source of truth, we find retrieval-based LLMs to be more robust to prompt injection and manipulation! Future work will involve expanding the scope of our dataset to more specialties and multimodal settings. #Medtwitter #MedEd

After spending the last few months building, we’re thrilled to be launching Almanac, the first milestone in our mission to improve healthcare delivery. Almanac is a collaborative agent that works across your EHR and workspace to help you delegate work, explore research directions, and more! We’ve raised a total of $12M, starting with a $2M pre-seed led by General Catalyst, and a $10M seed led by F-Prime with participation from General Catalyst and Lightspeed. We're just getting started, and we can't wait to build the future of care alongside the physicians who use Almanac every day

There’s been a lot of buzz surrounding multimodal LLMs in medicine. At the Hiesinger Lab we’ve been building Almanac Chat for over 6 months alongside our collaborators and we’re excited to showcase the first preview! • Almanac Chat is the first truly multimodal medical LLM trained across specialties and modalities (i.e. images, text, video and audio) to serve as a generalist clinical copilot. • The entire stack (e.g. server, client, ML pipeline) is developed and hosted locally to guarantee privacy and flexibility at inference time. • We're looking forward to evaluating our model alongside domain experts at Stanford Medicine in Q2 2024. • We have a a lot more exciting things on the way - see if you can spot a few teasers in the video! 👥: We’re looking to scale our team, model, and hardware.
