I always say I take time to reflect on events surrounding politicians before I can comment or share an opinion. Usually I decide to even hold back, considering what social media can become sometimes. In the case of Mayor Morero, and I know he apologized, someone commented when I shared Pule's post the other day and saud "he apologized, he's only human". I don't mind the apology, what I mind is the integrity of the Office he represents. I found myself yesterday once again going back to reflect on the few years that I worked in the Office of the late Mayor Isaac Mogase as an Administration Manager in the late 90's. Mayor Mogase having been an ANC Mayor, the first Black Mayor under the new democracy. What an honourable, respectable, humble man. He was from Alexandra. I suspect he probably grew up during the days of gangsterism in Alex where people carried oukapies, but he became a symbol of honour, integrity and dignity when I worked under him. I was just thinking that the way we were taught and led at the time, the love and respect Ntate Mogase had for the people and communities, what we saw done and said by Mayor Morero, would have been unheard of during Ntate Mogase's time. That was when the ANC was still respected and held in high regard. Ntate Mogase instilled values of discipline, decorum and diplomacy in us. He was a man of few words, but you just had to watch his leadership, not even what he said, to become a better person. We were young but we represented the Office well even the way we carried ourselves, with pride, wearing stilettos in those corridors of the Metro Centre. 😅 When Joburg was still Joburg. Councillors during that time included people like Kenny Fihla, the current CEO of ABSA Group, Parks Tau, the current Minister of Trade and Industry. Those were the days. I'm sure they are still comrades of the movement, but all I'm saying is, ayisafani. I find it sad that we are where we are. Ntate Mogase must be turning in his grave. Rest in eternal peace Ntate.

Suliman Carrim being the former Provincial Treasurer of the ANC in North West, and him having to testistify at Madlanga Commission and now arrested, raises a dynamic about whether his alleged "illegal activities" could have anything to do, not only with himself in terms of benefitting him, his family and business partners, but with the party as well. In fact, don't be surprised if he gets protected by all means necessary even now with this arrest. Again, referring you to the podcast interview of Matthew Phosa and Mzilikazi wa Afrika. Phosa as former Treasurer General of the ANC talks about his tenure that coincided with the 100 years centenary celebrations of the ANC, which he proudly says was a successful one, where he raised R280 million for the ANC overseas. But then he says something interestingly shocking, that during that time, he gave provincial ANC Offices millions of money for their operations and campaigns, "so that they didn't have to pilfer from municipalities. He says now they are not getting that money, if they don't steal from provincial level, they pilfer from municipalities". The evidence presented by Advocate Chaskalson at the Commission, that Carrim oversaw municipality tenders, had to quickly be cut, for him not to ever be probed on it. Immediately that came up, that's the last time we saw Carrim at the Commission. He got the best lawyers to make sure he never testifies. Was he going to skip the country on Thursday night, unfortunately he was caught? Will he be released under the assumption that he was simply innocently travelling attending a Pilgrimage as some are already insisting? Will he be protected so as to protect the party? We just continue to watch and observe..

It was the first time I heard an ANC leader, stalwart, Matthew Phosa admitting to Mzilikazi wa Afrika that his ANC comrades poison each other. They fight amongst each other, they try to eliminate each other for positions.
