![tom cullen: "me and my partner, we devoured heartstopper. just loved it, and i loved [joe locke]. so when i found out he was doing [black church bay], i was very excited at the chance of getting to work with him. you never quite know how it's going to work with the scene partner, but in the screen test, i went in and immediately it just felt good. we played together, got very comfortable, and then during the filming, because of the intensity of the work, we had to really look out for each other and we did. you know, joe and i really like each other, and he's a wonderful actor, and we played, but we also supported each other. it was a really challenging experience doing those scenes but i was glad it was with joe." ![jenny walser: “it's quite funny if i'm walking down the street with joe [locke] who plays charlie, one of the leads in ['heartstopper'], if i'm walking down the street with him he will get noticed and stopped for photos all the time. and he's so gracious about it, but it would take a massive toll on me. but it's quite funny, if i take the photo of him and the fan, and then as they're sort of saying thank you and leaving he goes, 'oh, and by the way, you know that she's in it, too. she plays tori,' and their face goes…and then he just walks off…” 🎥:](https://image.24vids.com/tw-2079442272622350688/amplify_video_thumb/2079441828772716544/img/4t8Z3zPjJzfNDwB1.jpg)

“heartstopper forever”: watch the first 3 minutes of the film early alice oseman: “it took us a long time to figure out where to start. starting where charlie is on top of the world immediately tells the audience where he is mentally. we can feel how far he has come on his journey. it’s also such a classic heartstopper feeling: celebrating being who you are and standing up for what’s right. that felt like the best way to start before we got into the angst. what’s really interesting is nick and charlie are not nervous around each other anymore. they’ve been together for so long; they just feel safe and content.” kit connor: “the movie opens with charlie taking that step from uncertainty to a quiet confidence, while nick is just starting to tip the other way into uncertainty.” joe locke: “it feels like sending a kid off to university. i hope that there’s that nostalgia for fans.” 🔗:

joe locke and kit connor talk about their “heartstopper” (🎥: joe locke: “i actually think my heartstopper wasn't even like, necessarily queer representation. my heartstopper was ‘sarah jane adventures’ with her lipstick sonic screwdriver. that was my heartstopper.” kit connor: “i feel like i always used to say ‘modern family,’ but i was like really obsessed with ‘modern family.’ for some reason, that doesn't feel like my heartstopper, but i don't know. i would almost say doctor who or something like that. but also sarah jane. the whole doctor who universe was just quite sort of, it was so heartstoppper for me. it stopped my heart.” joe: “i was never a doctor who fan, but love sarah jane. it was just the strong female energy. also, there was a queer doctor who series called class, i think it was called, and i loved that.” kit: “really? i didn't know that.”
