🇱🇹 Near Kaunas, in the village of Saliai, a secret underground printing house operated for many years beneath an ordinary home and greenhouse during the Soviet ☭ occupation of Lithuania and it was never discovered by the KGB. Deep underground, reached by a narrow staircase, banned publications dealing with Lithuanian history, religion, philosophy, and poetry were printed here, becoming an important part of Lithuania’s resistance to the Soviet system. Today, the underground printing house “ab” operates as a museum. IG 🎬 nera_blogo_oro

🇩🇪🇱🇹 Panzerbrigade 45 "Litauen" is more than just equipment or drills. It’s thousands of soldiers arriving not for a short rotation, but as a permanent part of NATO’s eastern flank defense. And it’s not just Germans - other NATO allies train side by side with them, building real combat strength. This shift is already changing everyday life here in Lithuania: from a stronger focus on German language studies to plans for an international school and deeper ties with local communities. This isn’t just a deployment anymore - it’s integration. These are people who will live, work and defend this land alongside us 🤝🛡️ #Panzerbrigade45 #Bundeswehr #Lithuania Video 🎬 brigadelitauen /IG

🛩 25 years ago, on September 2, 2000, Lithuanian 🇱🇹 pilot Jurgis Kairys flew upside down under the Simonas Daukantas Bridge in Kaunas and the whole stunt was watched live by Formula 1 legend Mika Häkkinen 🇫🇮, who was genuinely impressed by what he saw. In fact, Kairys has a remarkable record: - on July 4, 1996 he became the first in the world to officially fly under a pedestrian bridge - in Kaunas; - on September 18, 1999 he flew under ten Neris River bridges in Vilnius; - and on September 2, 2000 he became the first in the world to fly upside down under a pedestrian bridge - in Kaunas😊🤘🇱🇹

Lithuania is a former Grand Duchy of Lithuania, not a "former Soviet state". Lithuania 🇱🇹was illegally occupied by the Soviet Union in 1940. Despite Soviet claims, Lithuania never legally ceased to exist as a state. BBC News (World), please take note: The term "former Soviet state" is misleading because it implies voluntary inclusion in the USSR, whereas Lithuania's status was one of occupation and annexation.

Lithuanians 🇱🇹 often like to boast about having the most archaic Indo-European language. But here’s a twist – sometimes Latvians 🇱🇻 have preserved the older forms. For example, they still keep the long ā – so they say brālis (brother), while in Lithuanian it became brolis. Maybe that’s why we call Latvians braliukai (little brothers) - to stay closer to the archaic word brālītis (brāļuks) 😉

The new calls for foreigners to learn Lithuanian in Vilnius 🇱🇹 are still being dismissed by some as "politics." But it shouldn’t be seen that way at all. Historically, the Lithuanian language has been pushed into the shadows more than once. Today, we’re again seeing the public space being dominated by russian. These initiatives aren't about control, they’re a reminder that this is Lithuania and the Lithuanian language is the norm here. It’s about respect, plain and simple. Language shouldn't be a matter of politics. Lithuanians don't want russian to be the default in their own city. This isn't up for debate - it's a lesson learned from history.

🌿 Language families of Europe Lithuanians and Latvians speak the only surviving Baltic languages – with Lithuanian being one of the most archaic living Indo-European tongues. Meanwhile, Finns, Estonians, and Hungarians are linguistic outliers – their languages trace back to the distant fringes of the Ural Mountains 😉

Brits 🇬🇧 becoming poorer than Lithuanians 🇱🇹 and Latvians 🇱🇻? A new CEBR analysis shows a sharp decline for the UK: 🔻 By 2050, the United Kingdom will fall to 46th place globally in GDP per capita. ⬆️ Lithuania will overtake the UK around 2030, followed by the Czech Republic, Saudi Arabia and Poland. ⬆️ By 2043, even Turkey and Latvia will be ahead of Britain. Countries the British once viewed as “lagging behind” are now catching up, and surpassing - the old Western economies ;)
