Immediate reflections on Scottish Government response to the Supreme Court ruling that sex is biological, which destroyed the SG’s policy of self-ID - a ruling that would never have happened without the courage of For Women Scotland and the army of women by their side 🟣The minister Shirley-Anne Sommerville dialled down her usual more shrill tone to prim, verging on condescending; 🟣blamed EHRC for giving the SG duff advice but said she couldn’t act on updating guidance to NHS etc until she had met with EHCR and even then it would take a while; 🟣Insisted several times that we should all be nice to trans and non-binary people, ignoring the abuse and threats against women seen at trans protests at the weekend and on many occasions in the past decade; 🟣When asked to by Ash Regan MSP she refused to apologise to women for the anguish her government’s self ID politics had caused women these last few years; 🟣 Politely took a question from Maggie Chapman instead of calling out her unacceptable, very public attack on the Supreme Court at the weekend - see below (H/T Elaine Miller, Venus Envy) And the MSP for Glasgow Southside was not in the chamber. Too busy working out I presume.
