I have been calling on Texas DSHS to not renew the camp license for the operators of Camp Mystic for this season until all investigations are complete later this year. Today, House and Senate investigators, after interviewing nearly 140 witnesses, laid out the specific timeline of July 3 and July 4, 2025. Anyone who has not heard the testimony needs to see the video below. It’s factual, riveting, and heartbreaking. No one wants to close Camp Mystic forever. Once you see and hear the evidence, I think you will clearly understand why I, along with the Heaven’s 27 families who lost their children, have called on DSHS to not renew Camp Mystic’s operators’ license until all investigations are complete later this year and Camp Mystic and its operators are determined to be fit to protect and care for children in their custody. Today, I was in Washington, D.C., to present President Donald J. Trump with the Religious Liberty Commission's report and our recommendations. Over the past year, our Commission held seven hearings and heard testimony from over 100 witnesses from education, the military, healthcare, the private sector, and government. They shared firsthand accounts of how their religious liberty had been violated. Many have already won their cases before the Supreme Court, while others are still fighting in the courts. Based on the testimony we heard and the Commission's findings, it became clear time and again that Americans' religious freedoms were being denied based on the fictitious claim that the "separation of church and state" is found in the Constitution. As a result, we presented President Trump with 12 recommendations to strengthen and restore religious liberty in America.

WATCH: Yesterday, President Trump’s Religious Liberty Commission, which I was honored that the President appointed me to chair, held its second meeting. The focus was on religious liberty in public education, and highlighted cases where students and families were denied their First Amendment right to freedom of religion. We were blessed to have the President attend and speak. During his speech on faith and freedom, he told the story of Shay, a boy from California who, as a fifth grader, was forced to read a book about gender transitioning to a kindergartner. Not only was this not age-appropriate, it violated Shay’s religious beliefs. Shay and his family stood up against the radical left and its poisonous ideology, but were driven out of their school. While Shay and his mother were testifying, I received a message about a radical professor at Texas A&M University forcing their personal agenda on students. What happened at Texas A&M University and what happened to Shay is happening in schools all across America, from elementary school to college. In Texas, the Senate and I have led the way in ending divisive DEI in K-12 and in higher education. We stripped radical faculty senates of power, as they push radical woke agendas. I just concluded a 90-minute lunch in the West Wing with President Donald J. Trump on School Choice with leaders from across the country. The President is all in on School Choice and will help in any way needed to be sure School Choice finally passes through the Texas House. We will pass our School Choice bill, #SB2, out of the Senate next Wednesday. Senator Creighton has done a phenomenal job on this issue. It passed out of his Education Committee this week, 9-2. #txlege

I was not sure how my remarks at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, where President Trump spoke this week, would be received by a mostly European audience. They sat quietly, but came up to the stage after I spoke to thank and hug me. I was surprised. I was invited by the President of Slovakia, who happened to be there, to come to his country to give that speech. I don’t know if I’ll be invited back to Davos, and that’s ok, but I decided not to hold back on an issue I feel is so important.

People ask me all the time about the difference between the Texas House and the Texas Senate. The difference is that the Speaker allows Democrats to control him on many important conservative issues. He kills a lot of conservative legislation by ensuring it never reaches the floor for a vote. And if it does get to the floor, he makes sure it’s watered down, killed on a point of order, or voted down—like he did with school choice. He advances Democrat priorities, even though House Republicans are often overwhelmingly opposed to them. Why? Because Democrats keep him in power. Watch the short video below. #txlege
