August 16, 1996. MLB held its first game in Mexico at Estadio Monterrey. Fernando Valenzuela started for the Padres AND threw out the first pitch. He went 6 innings, gave up 3 runs and struck out 3. The Padres won 15-10 and Valenzuela got the win. RIP to an absolute legend.
