If you're not watching how jockey's ride National Hunt horses over fences then you are missing out on an edge. Whether you're an in-running punter or pre race punter. Jonjo O'Neill is another. He sits back in the saddle on the landing side of a fence - loses momentum, the horse is not going forward on landing. You do that on a circuit and the lengths lost soon add up. A clear example to watch is Johnnywho when he ran at Ascot obviously among others - clearest view at the last fence (but was the same right the way around). But the point is not to slate the jockey. The point is to know that in a big field handicap with no space it's going to cost you lengths and see mistakes. Smaller field, probably fine. It's analysing races to profit. Not to abuse.
