KZN police have arrested five of these gun-toting suspects this week. They were caught during an active robbery. A week ago, one of their accomplices was shot dead in a gun battle with police in Inanda. They are linked to a series of robberies, murders and hijackings in the INK area. Three guns and a hijacked car have been recovered. They are due back in the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday. The SA Police Service 🇿🇦 is appealing to any victims to come forward. eNCA

A suspect driving a stolen truck went on the rampage this afternoon, apparently after a disagreement with his employer. The Malawian man – a truck driver – rammed into several cars and a pedestrian during his wild ride. Police officers, including Umlazi K9 members, gave chase but the trucker also smashed into another police car. According to the SAPS, members fired at the vehicle to neutralise the threat, and the suspect was subsequently struck and wounded. The heavy vehicle eventually came to rest on Underwood Road in Pinetown. AlsParamedics says, “Paramedics arrived on the scene to find SAPS had closed off the entire roadway. Paramedics found multiple vehicles damaged some with bullet holes and others after the crash. The scene was over a short distance and Paramedics assessed the scene. A truck that was allegedly driven by a suspect had collided head on into a SAPS vehicle whilst being chased by other SAPS members. The truck was found badly damaged as a result of the crash as well as bullet holes. The driver had sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his upper body and was stabilised on the scene by Advanced Life Support Paramedics before being transported to hospital under police guard. A vehicle with a family on their way home were also involved in the crash and five occupants had sustained minor to moderate injuries and were treated on scene by ALS Paramedics before being transported to a nearby Hospital for the further care that they required.” WARNING: SUPPLIED VIDEO MAY BE DISTURBING TO SOME eNCA

He has now categorically stated that the “smear campaign” against him originates within the organisation. But Mkhwanazi insists he and his team are not backing down, and their work will soon reveal the rogue elements hiding out at the SAPS HQ. In an interview with eNCA, the veteran policeman says this isn’t the first time he’s been targeted for exposing criminals within the SAPS. Mkhwanazi has given an assurance that the level of policing in KZN won’t be affected by this. More on #DStv403.

EXCLUSIVE | The SAPS in KZN has launched an investigation into a senior officer in the KwaMashu area over his alleged links to the criminal underworld. The provincial commissioner says they have information that suggests he rallied people to open cases against fellow police officers after they were involved in a shootout that left four suspected extortionists dead near Duffs Road. Lt-Gen Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi has reiterated the men in the VW Polo were wanted for extortion, murder and other crimes, their guns were illegal, and there was no mistaken identity. He says the events leading up to their deaths is already under investigation by IPID, which is standard procedure. eNCA #DStv403
