One thing that stood out to me from Alexis Guerreros (big Arsenal fan) and Christian Polanco's conversation with Michael Yormark, President of Roc Nation Sports Int'l, and Federico Pena wasn't just the discussion around Roc Nation, but their vision for where football is heading. Yormark argued that football needs to embrace what American sport has long understood: STAR POWER DRIVES GROWTH. It can't just be the name on the front of the shirt; the name on the back matters too. When the spotlight is on a player, the club benefits commercially as well. He used Michael Jordan as the example. The Chicago Bulls became a global phenomenon because of Jordan's individual brand. The club and the player elevated one another. For me, Real Madrid have traditionally operated from a different philosophy, and understandably so. As a member-owned institution with presidential elections and a history that spans generations, the club has always projected that no player is bigger than Real Madrid. That identity is deeply ingrained in how the institution is run. The debate, though, is whether modern football is shifting. Global audiences increasingly follow personalities as much as clubs, and commercial value is increasingly tied to individual brands. That's where Arsenal's vision appears different. Josh Kroenke's strategy seems far more aligned with the philosophy Yormark describes: building around global stars whose personal brands can elevate the club while the club elevates them in return. Vini Jr. wants more than footballing success. He wants to become a crossover global celebrity, with greater endorsement opportunities, stronger links to American sport and entertainment, and a platform that extends beyond the pitch. That's where Ben Winston, one of the most influential creative and entertainment executives in global sport and media, steps in. Ben please like this know one would know 😂

“Making sure the academy reflects the society.” That line alone tells you everything about why Hale End became so special under Per Mertesacker. He didn’t just develop footballers, he built a culture. A pathway where kids from every background across London genuinely felt seen, valued and believed in. Saka, ESR, Nwaneri, Dowman, MLS… all came through in an environment built on humility, character, education and togetherness, not just talent alone.
