Yesterday I Visited Cardiff’s Dogs trust rescue centre to see a 5 month old GSD called Hedgehog who had been there for a month not having had a very good start in life. It’s really hard to walk away and leave the little chap so I brought him back to join our puppy program.

I’m often asked about Ella and was she ever a Police dog. She is my own dog and so has never been a Police dog. But I have trained her in all disciplines &amp; she would have been an exceptional Police dog. Here she is doing a straight chase &amp; then doing a brilliant emergency recall

Bolt may no longer be in the Police puppy program but he is living his best life with his puppy walkers and his mate Larry a fox terrier.

PD Albert and John just completed their Part 3 at the National Police dog trials and a more proud puppy walker you couldn’t find. Have to admit I couldn’t control my emotions at the end of their display in the company of his breeder Ceara and Lady B😢👏

My favourite video of the day was the boys on the escalator’s. I have no doubt that both of the boys TPD Ronnie and TPD Reggie would have happily walked onto the escalator but obviously safety must come first.

When I arrive at the beach In Exmouth Ella becomes possessed &amp; she is incapable of rational thought. People look at me &amp; probably think that bloke needs to take that dog to see a dog trainer. In any other situation my control over her is 100%. Dog whisperer, absolutely not. ❤️😘

When I popped around to see Andy and his family about becoming puppy walkers last week 10 year old Frenchie Ruby was described as very inactive &amp; not interested in very much. That seems to have changed with the arrival of TPD Vader.🤣

TPD Albert will be leaving me next week to go to his new handler John based in Plymouth. TPD Albert &amp; I will enjoy our last 10 days together. This track was in driving rain &amp; gale force winds and in places under water. No probs for this relentless machine that is TPD Albert. 🥲

TPD Chilli searching for a criminal believed to be hiding inside. TPD Chilli is very determined and will not give up until she finds who she is looking for.

DOES SIZE MATTER? TPD Veena was not that driven in her early days but I sensed there was something about her and now her tracking prowess is there for all to see. She has very much lived in the shadow of TPD Albert &amp; at 28kgs some will say she’s too small for GP work. ( Thoughts)

TPD Clive is back with me and I think he was just a little bit pleased to be back 🏡 home. ❤️

I can’t remember the last time it was just me and Ella with no other dogs. I’m missing training other dogs but Ella definitely isn’t. She’s never had so many walks. Here she has to find a single key, a leaf with my initial on it &amp; a small pill bottle within 2 minutes 10 seconds

Disaster for Bex. 🥲 Yesterday she had her hip and elbow X rays to see if fit to work as a GP operational Police dog. Sadly one of her hips wasn’t at the standard required and so I will now have to find my delightful remarkable girl a new home. Today locating a 2p &amp; 10p coin.

Today I decided it was time to start the process of teaching TPD Odi not to jump out of the car until I attach the lead &amp; give him permission to exit. The humping my leg &amp; constantly biting the lead are also a couple of Odi’s idiosyncrasies I’m still working on.

Update. TPD Odi is much more settled today. He is eating well &amp; very bright. The cone is annoying him but he isn’t stressed. He must stay in the crate except for toilet breaks for 6 to 8 weeks. Either I or my wife will remain in the room with him to keep him calm.

A warning to our puppy walkers in Devon and Cornwall you need to prepare yourselves for the mayhem coming your way tomorrow from Catello GSD’s

My wife’s birthday yesterday and a pub lunch was the order of the day. Lots of distractions but taking a small pigs ear everywhere with me is a godsend. Also a very well behaved dog nearby also helped. 👍😂

There are times when you know you shouldn’t let him play with the brush, your belt or your shoes but sometimes the desire for just 5 quiet minutes with my coffee weakens my resolve.🧘‍♀️🌅

Having dispensed with any heel-work control, introducing a harness to prevent pressure around his neck, allowing him freedom to explore &amp; lots of environmental work in Exeter has been transformative. The purists will be critical but I’m only interested in what helps TPD Clive.

TPD Herbie hasn’t seen his puppy walkers Colin &amp; Mitzi since they handed him over to his new handler Tony at the start of the course 7 weeks ago. They joined the course to see how he is doing yesterday. At first he didn’t realise they were there but that soon changed.
