The reason that there is so much attention on law enforcement and crime in DC is because in 2020, Charles Allen championed some of the most anti-police legislation in the country. Five years later, the MPD now has only ~3,000 cops with more than 800 vacancies for the position of sworn officer and crime has doubled from pre-2020 levels.
