It seems that Ukraine's 1020th Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment which belongs to the Ground Forces has taken delivery of the first Skyranger 35 SPAAGs mounted on a Leopard 1 chassis made by Rheinmetall. A contract for the delivery of the Skyranger 35 SPAAGs was signed in H2 of 2025 with an unnamed EU country financing the SPAAGs through the interest of frozen Russian assets.

Germany's Minister of Foreign Affairs announced on Paul Ronzheimer's podcast that there is currently dissatisfaction with the volume of orders for the German defence industry in connection with Germany's military assistance to Ukraine. According to him, this has been communicated to the Ukrainian government including President Zelenskyy directly alongside the request to improve the situation in the future. I've translated the relevant comments from the podcast and added subtitles for you. Personal comment: While I agree in certain things with him, I must say, one or two times the choice of words from him shocked me a bit, and I've heard a lot over the years. To say “we need to get something out of this”, while we are just spending some money and Ukraine on the other hand suffers daily terror attacks with hundreds of thousands of its own people dead or injured with many more to suffer the same fate in the future... I'm a bit lost for words. Let alone that it is absolutely impossible to involve the German defence industry in — as he said — every procurement. Some things you can only buy outside of Germany, for example in the US or in Ukraine directly.

As part of his opening remarks of the UDCG, Germany's Minister of Defence Boris Pistorius announced a set of new military aid pledges I've compiled below 👇. — New PAC-2 missiles from Bundeswehr stocks — New AIM-9 missiles from Bundeswehr stocks — Tens of thousands of long-range artillery shells In addition, he also announced that Ukraine will order several thousand IRIS-T missiles which will be funded by the EU's Ukraine Support Loan. This will result in the establishment of another production line.

Today, Ukraine's Air Command West has published so far unseen (combat) footage of the fourth German-delivered Skynex fire unit operated by the 223rd Anti-Aircraft Missile Regiment, including a video which proves the prior claimed interception of a Russian Kh-101 cruise missile.

A brief update on Skynex in #Ukraine: According to information provided by Rheinmetall CEO Papperger during today's Q3 conference call, the Skynex air defence systems supplied by Germany have now also proven themselves in the fight against Russian missiles. However, we have not yet seen any visual confirmation or received more details on the matter (I don't mean to imply that he is lying) – video footage and details of Skynex air defence systems in Ukrainian service are very rarely released and so far only shows the interception of Russian loitering munitions. Officially, Germany has so far delivered two Skynex systems to Ukraine and promised two more. Unofficially, at least one, if not both, of the promised systems should already be in service in Ukraine, as both were to be delivered by the end of 2025.

The Russian military managed to destroy another decoy of an IRIS-T SLM launcher somewhere “deep behind enemy lines” in #Ukraine. There are various indicators proving that this is only a decoy. Just to mention two: 1) After the strike — which is not even shown as it would be another proof of this being a decoy — you can clearly see that the cabin is made of some metal frame and plywood. 2) Also very visible after the strike is a tow hook at the very front which is used to tow the decoy into place (hence the truck shown at 00:20). PS: Even if it would be a real launcher, it's not worth $50 million like claimed by the Russian propaganda machine. H/t PJ "giK"

Judging by a video released two days ago, German-delivered MK 556 assault rifles seem to have entered service with the popular 3rd Assault Brigade. A bit of history about the German deliveries. Originally limited to 5,000 pieces, the MK 556 assault rifles supplied by Germany were initially exclusively handed out to various Ukrainian SOF units. Later, they were also handed over to the 82nd Air Assault Brigade, 95th Air Assault Brigade and then 58th Motorised Brigade. After the delivery of the initially promised 5,000 units was completed in March 2025, 800 additional assault rifles were surprisingly delivered in April 2025. Only one month later, MK 556 assault rifles were also spotted to be used by the 425th Assault Regiment. Since the MK 556 assault rifles are now also being used by the 3rd Assault Brigade, it is likely (although of course not proven) that deliveries have continued since the German government has largely stopped publishing details about newly delivered or pledged assistance in April 2024.

Further evidence that the delivery of Taurus KEPD-350 cruise missiles to Ukraine remains necessary, even in light of Ukraine’s outstanding domestic developments. Since March 2026, the AFU used Storm Shadow/SCALP-EG cruise missiles at least four times against high-value targets. 7th of March 2026 US-supplied ATACMS and French-supplied SCALP-EG were used to heavily damage and destroy a site near the Donetsk Airport which was used by Russia for the storage, preparation, and launch of Shaheds and similar UAVs. 10th of March 2026 British-supplied Storm Shadow were used to strike and severely damage the Kremniy El microelectronics factory in Bryansk. The factory specializes in discrete semiconductor devices and integrated microchips, which are critical parts of various Russian weapon systems like Iskander missiles. 13th of April 2026 to 14th of April 2026 French-supplied SCALP-EG and US-supplied GBU-39 were used to strike and damage OWA UAV storage facilities near the Donetsk Airport. 25th of May 2026 Today, British-supplied Storm Shadows were used to destroy an important enemy command-and-control and communications post in the temporarily occupied territory of Luhansk region. Each of these targets could also have been damaged or destroyed using Taurus KEPD-350. Indeed, the relevance of a delivery of 50 to 100 pieces from Bundeswehr stocks has declined in recent years. However, as we can see, there are still plenty of operational scenarios in which the Taurus can and should be deployed. Since stocks of SCALP-EG and Storm Shadow are not infinite either, a delivery – as promised on several occasions by the German Chancellor – remains absolutely essential. And yes, the German government has invested several hundred million euros in various Ukrainian weapons systems, thereby funding not only the production of those systems but also their further development. These include the An-196 Liutyi, which Ukraine has been successfully deploying for quite some time against targets deep within Russian territory. It’s not as if we do nothing to make such attacks possible. We do a lot. But we could and must do more.

🧵 1/6 — During today’s parliamentary question session, Chancellor Merz gave a rare information exchange on the Taurus KEPD-350 – the delivery of which to #Ukraine he himself had vehemently demanded – and in doing so, he spread many half-truths. Here is my detailed fact-check.

Today, Russian Forces claimed to have destroyed a vehicle belonging to a German-delivered IRIS-T SLM fire unit in the Odesa region. Judging by the published footage and after speaking to a source of mine, I have no reason to believe that there is any truth to the Russian claims and I uploaded this here just for transparency reasons. It is particularly interesting to note that once the loitering munition moves closer to the target, it appears that the vehicle shown is actually blueish-gray-white (see image two), which not even remotely resemble actual IRIS-T SLM related vehicles in Ukraine, which feature either a sand-colour finish (see image three) or a green one (see image four).

The Kursk Force Grouping (commanded by the 8th Air Assault Corps) has just shared a video of their forces deploying several different systems, including a German-delivered HX-2 loitering munition to destroy a Russian 2S7 Pion howitzer inside Russia. The howitzer has reportedly recently intensified strikes on the city of Sumy and the surrounding region from Russian territory (~48 kilometres away). Apparently, it was so deep covered inside a Russian forest and well protected by not only natural barriers, that multiple bomber drones as well as HX-2 and Hornet loitering munitions were not enough to destroy the artillery piece, so they also had to strike the site several times with an M142 HIMARS MLRS. Regarding the HX-2, the German government has contracted Helsing to manufacture and deliver several thousand of these loitering munition to Ukraine, while unknown to many, Germany has also been invested in the delivery of M142 HIMARS MLRS and munitions for these systems. Germany has financed the delivery of three M142 HIMARS MLRS from US stocks with a double-digit million dollar sum in mid-2024, while new ammunition deliveries are regularly funded through NATO's PURL mechanism.

According to Rheinmetall CEO Papperger in an interview with Deutsche Welle, Rheinmetall offered to supply 200 of its new FV-014 loitering munitions to #Ukraine two or three months ago. However, ongoing funding issues have so far prevented the contract from being concluded.
